“Gather round…”…two things….firstly picked up the car after 6000mile service at Offords in Cambridgeshire and I must say I was rather impressed by the service…ok the hire car wasn’t the bees knees by any means, but did the job, was comfortable and gave good mpg….the customer service being excellent (Simon and Luigi) and I left with the notion of returning for other services. I must point out that I am rather picky and my car isn’t very old (99’), so im extremely choosey to where I take it to be looked at.
On the way out I met a nice chap called Colin who owned a bright yellow Griff 500 with the baffles taken out…the sound was excellent and apparently Simon can do this at a rather reasonable price (sport exhaust sound)
…..Ok….finally….last year on a most clement evening I travelled to Leamington Spa on my fireblade….and was completely humiliated by a new BMW M5…i did have a tank bag on, but still he pulled away like the car was assisted by NOS….
…..Ah….revenge was sweet…sooo sweet…returning from Cambridgeshire (A14) in the Griff after the service I noticed a newish Y-reg M5 and let him waft on by….i then decided to keep up with him as he was “preparing to take off” (girlfriends words not mine)….the sound coming from his 4 exhausts was a little unexpected…as he had almost silently overtaken me at 70mph and then dropped into sports mode…it’s a must hear!..
..I didn’t have to drop down a gear but still kept up and over took him…which was nice!..
….This happened two more times until I was happy to let (the ghost that has haunted me) go….oh how I laughed…another demonstration of the awesome power of the 5 litre..

Eh? Have you had your fireblade restricted in some way?

I went to OMC for exactly this and was persuaded to do something rather more expensive, about £500+VAT more expensive, and had a dodgy idle for three years afterwards. So much for advice.

ahhhh....its all about aerodynamics…

....the fireblade was heavily weighed down by the huge tankbag and myself...and i couldnt get my head down on the tank behind the screen!

.....a general complacency that nothing could touch me on the road..except other bikes and light aircraft..

.just wasn’t ready for the power (something like 450bhp)...sorry Mark.

simpo...Colin (yellow griff)reported that Simon had done a first rate job and was in the lower region of £150...im still mulling it over...i can see your point though!

.....as regards to letting the side down....well...it was my only slip up...and i have more than made up for it since...of course you happen to have the fuel injected fireblade...(still better that the R1's)

I got caught out by a 456gt on the a34 (might have been benno)... sometimes they just catch you out

I quite like the new R1s. If I was going to change the blade I think I'd look at one of those... mind you I love the blade so much I don't think I'll change just yet. I've done about 11k miles on it from new last April and it's a fantastic bike.

Offord did mine, it was just over £100 as part of a load of other work (I fins when I'm going to get a bill of £1k that nother £100 does not hurt.
Simpo, did you go for the decat?

i was just thinking....

.....Colin(yellow griff)didnt mention anything about having his de-catted...just the removal of something or other...but the sound was superb and it had the odd cackle...he also talked about a friend of his wearing light coloured clothing and standing behind the car as he started and rev'd it...she was duly covered in oil and petrol spots...

Yes, I blipped the throttle, as you do, for a punter at a car show and found I'd splattered the TVRCC Suffolk banner in a similar way...

offord quoted me £160 + vat for the exhaust upgrade,ie pipes put in the rear box.

Seems we are getting varied prices here

Simon

Mine was a couple of years ago and I had a load of other work done so the car was already in bits.

I heard Simons Cerbera last night wth it's sports pipes on...awesome. Will be comparing it to my Cerbera when we decat it later this week.

Simpo and Davidd....

.....does the exhaust conversion from Offord (or in fact any other TVR Specialist) create tooo much noise?

...i am quite respectful of the neighbours and i often come home late with the usual....in reverse..blipping the throttle etc....just to park it

......im nearly convinced...push me over the edge
