I've had my Griff a month and a half now, and I've done 1700 miles in it already. For no good reason as such, just I enjoy driving it!
Yes, it's caused me some worry - but due to my own "will it go wrong" paranoia, not because anything's dropped off it or it's stopped working. Plenty of time for that.
I can't imagine buying anything else at the moment. 'Cept a Tuscan.

I'm on my second TVR. The first was the realisation of a burning desire to own a Cerbera. Had it for a year and loved it, even with the usual niggles. Never put me off owning another one - so I got one of the last Griffs (70/100) - absolutely fantastic.
I've had loads of cars over the years, all sorts of makes, and none of them have been perfect. But for sheer enjoyment and the 'feel good' factor none of them could hold a candle to the TVR experience - long live TVR I say.

Had the Chim for 18 months now, been to Le Mans (the best), plenty of weekends away, Duxford, the fabulous Surrey Run and still regularly drive it to work (2 miles or sometimes 10 !)
Things have gone wrong but nothing more than most other cars of same age (95 M reg).
Once you get hooked, the 'will something fall off paranoia' goes (almost !)
The reaction from other people has been nothing other than positive, everyone loves them even friends who drive porkers/dancing cart horses etc.
Now where are my keys......

You are all making me immensely jealous. I have been waiting and waiting for my property purchase to complete so I can get a Cerby. Still have to wait until Mid October.
However, I will definitley be getting one then because no matter what negative vibes people have given off about them, I absolutely love them and there are so many positive aspects I'd never forgive myself if I didn't take the opportunity whilst I could.
Three weeks, three weeks, three weeks!!!!!!

quote:Agreed, but I think, as has been pointed out on another thread, that the 'happy-TVR owners and 'not-so-happy' ones will be divided according to whether they bought their car from new or pre-owned.
I've had 2 S series and they've both been fantastic. No question in my mind about TVR value for money - long may they continue.
I've owned a few TVRs (at one stage I had 6 at the same time, still have 3½ but never a new one. TVRs have been a hobby and, apart from my first two which were company cars, have only been used for social/pleasure use.
I'm tempted to buy a 2 year old Cerbera as a spare runabout but, for me, part of the fun is tinkering and the old M-series are perfect for that. Dismantling a carburetor in the parking area of a Belgian service area on the way to Zolder one year adds to the TVR-owning experience (I kept telling myself).
As for new TVRs, people no longer move up to a TVR from MGBs/TR6s/Elans etc as they did in the 70s and early 80s; Prices are higher, people's expectations are higher and the modern 'you can't fix it yourself, sir' technical complexities of all cars, not just TVRs, don't help.
Well to add my two pennyworths,
Although I have not been a TVR owner/driver as long as some of you I have owned TVRs for the last 8 years. My current Griffith 500 has been with me for 5 years now and I can honestly say that it is the most enjoyable car I have ever owned.
The Griffith has been very reliable throughout and has completely met my requirements of an exhilerating, loud, fast and scary sports car. So much so that even after 5 constant years of use I still plan to keep the car and have spent a few bob upgrading to Ohlins suspension, upgraded brakes and the like.
A very happy owner!
Mike.

Terminator, as I have posted on the other thread, i have had my Chimaera for two years from new and I love it to bits. Previous car was an MGF and the difference just doesn't fit on a chart.
Loved TVRs since, as someone else posted, reading about wedges in the 80s - in particular an article describing the woofle echoing back off the walls whilst booming along somewhere like the Lakes. Then sis took me to France in her Chimaera three years ago and I was lost. And she is now on her second!
All the previous comments about waves, admiring looks and comments from strangers, plus the TVR community apply, but just me and the car is fantastic.
