Had my Tuscan 4.0 2000W since july.
The car is better than perfect. How can something so gorgeous and demanding be less than perfect.

The useless prats that sold me it are, however less than perfect. The relatively minor troubles the car had when i tested it, like an out of alignment caliper and a knackered a/c have taken forever to get sorted. Its now on holiday in Blackpool where hopefully it will become even more perfect.

I bought my first "modern" TVR in June of this year.
Up till then I had always waited for the dry weekend to arrive so that I could get the beast out of the garage.
Not the classic 911 or the supa twin turbo Supra.....
but my DUCATI SPS oh yeah !!! What a blast , nothing like it for the sheer thrill of high speed automotive pleasure. Well I decided that super sport riding was getting rather dangerous , the old bills speeding policy - bloody crap driving by many tin can specialists (cars to you and me) and Insurance premiums etc.
Then one Sunday I was passing a showroom..........
Bikes gone TVR Chimaera arrived. This car is the closest thing that I have driven that comes close to the raw thrills of riding a really fast road bike.
It's a wonderful bit of kit.
Long live TVR.
One ex - biker to TVR convert.

I'm with SPS on this one - had bikes for years, including a Ducati 750SS (beautiful), BMW K1200RS (fast for a big lump) and lastly an R6. After 12 months of the R6 (as a "back up" to the TVR) I realised that:

a) TVRs are reliable
b) I had covered less than 2k on the bike
c) TVRs are for every day, not just for Christmas
d) I had only covered 2k on the bike
e) I love getting the TVR out of the garage
f) I only did about 2k on the bike
g) I have been known to just stand and look at my car
h) I hardly covered any miles on the bike
i) 5 litres is hardly enough

.....I sold the R6 in the spring - and I haven't replaced it yet!!!!

See... Me, Podie, Mungo, and CarZee aren't the only ones. Knob references, and on a car forum

Scruff (roof still off - but thinking of driving gloves ...no not that sort... )

I love the exhaust echoe when driving through city centres... and the fact that everyone is looking, pointing and shouting compliments (which you can't hear 'cause of the exhaust)

Thinking exactly the same myself today about the Chimaera.

All the usual stuff (looks nice, is frighteningly fast, sounds tittilating), but also (and I know some people don't subscribe to this) it's bogarse simple, so that even if I can't fix it myself, I can usually diagnose what is wrong and explain it to someone else.

It's not even been anywhere as unreliable as I thought it would be (okay - it's no Audi, but it's no worse than I expected).

Just to add to the converted biker thread

I've got a ZX6R in the garage, it's done 3000 miles since Aug1999 (new)

Anyone want one ? I was thinking of getting some slicks and just use it for track days, but I've got the car for that too

The day I said 'cheerio' to El Cerb a while back now, brings back similar memories to this; there is something utterly organic about the shape; and the speed with which the revs blip up and down with gentle caressing of the throttle is/was something a simple pleasure which defines/defined the ownership experience.

And as for the Tuscan, I recall an EVO group test in which Harold Metcalfe described how the arrival of said beastie silenced all present into a state of drooling bumblism - humbling everything prsent - Diablo included!

The one thing that defines TVRs is their 'star' quality and my fondest memories were the flashing and thumbs up routine of other owners as one passed at usually quite responsible rates of progress (ahem).

Worthy thread. Despite everything, TVR is on balance sommat to be grateful for and let's be honest, only a complete fruit bat like Captain Wheeler could jamn one market sector with so much prime beef and then garnish it with the finest horse raddish sauce aka the Tuscan R, a car which, as someone once said about an overpriced guitar, will one day be mine; oh yes it will. Except the 'R' isn't overpriced. And now I'm babbling, which is the usual effect Tivs have on me.

Hammer down, people.
