Tim, i have just bought some of your engine oil off ebay. What oil filter do you recommend? Are these high performance glassfibre ones worth the money?
Regards
Jim (ebay lff894)

Hi all, just thought I would let you know, Halfords are doing a deal at the moment on MOBIL 1 15W50 - £38.49 for 5L! I use this on my Griff and have stocked up because I understand Mobil have stopped this oil now and replaced it. Log onto the Halfords website and you can search to see if your nearest branches have any.
Also with regard oil filters - my Griff and Land Rover use the same oil filter, I have just bought a consignment of 10 quality Cooper OEM filters for £36.48 delivered from Adventure 4x4, they are doing a special offer on 10. You can get cheap filters but I have always found these Cooper's to be excellent.
Cheers, Pete

Pete,
When the Mobil 15w-50 is all gone there are plenty of alternatives, equal or better quality. I am still unsure why Mobil deciced to drop it. However for the die hard Mobil fans the Mobil 1 4t 15w-50 (for bikes) is exactly the same oil.
If you find good deals else where, could you please start a new thread. I have to pay a fair bit to have this one so I can do some advertising.
Cheers
Guy.

I have just replaced my cam on my RV8 chim with another Real Steel Typhoon camshaft.
On the fitting instructions it states that a none synthetic oil should be used.
The manufacturer recommends Valvoline AZ11951 Racing Oil, what do you think? Is this available and is there an alternative?
Car is used for a lot of track days as well as road use.

Hi, I am a bit late comming to this thread, having owned TVr`s for several years, but would appreciate your advice. I have a Griff 500, totally standard only done 18,000 miles and do approx 2/3K per year, no track days. The place where i have been taking it for service use Shell Helix 10-40 semi synthetic i believe, and have been told that its ok to top up with Vauxhall semi- sythetic 10-40 between services. My questions are:- 1.Is it ok to continue to use Shell Helix for this engine? 2.How good is the vauxhall stuff?
Many thanks Nigel.
