The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XFS, Fuchs Supersyn, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

finestjammy said: Hi, please could you advise on engine, gearbox and differential oil as well as clutch fluid and coolant if you supply for the following:
Make: TVR Model: Chimaera 4.0 Year: 1993 Engine type: Rv8 4.0L - done 80,000 miles Modifications: Smooth bore plenum elbow and breather hoses, thermal trumpet insulator, sleeved silencer Driving style: Weekends and holidays, never used in temperatures below +5c, no track use, mainly A and B roads. Any other information that may be relevant: Has the LT77 (SD1) gearbox and GKN Differential, the diff has recently been reconditioned. What recommendation are you looking for? Engine,Gearbox,Differential and clutch fluid and coolant if you supply these.
Hi I'd go for a 10w-50 in the engine. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-659-10w-50.aspxBoth are really good oils, absolute top of the range ones, so go with any brand preference you have. A good ATF is ideal for the gearbox, Amsoil ATF, Redline D4, Motul Multi ATF or Fuchs ATF5005 would be the ones I'd consider. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-442-automatic-gear-oil...I'm having a mental block, is the GKN the older or newer diff? The clutch needs a DOT4 brake fluid, so any of these http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-450-brake-clutch-fluid...Cheers Tim

opieoilman said: Thanks for the response tim, really appreciate it. The GKN is the older diff. I've also heard mixed views on using ATF for the Lt77 transmission. Seems to be pros and cons for both manual or automatic fluid. My main aim is maximum protection for the box, I can live with an obstructive change. Any thoughts?

Hi, Just become new and first time TVR owner. Car is a 1999 4.2 Cerbera. 64000 miles although rebuilt by TVR Power approx 12000 miles ago. Was given some spare engine oil with the car - Millers Oils CFS 10w-60 Competition Full Synthetic Engine Oil. Wee bit puzzled as from what Im reading here the recommendations for the AJP8 seem to be 0w-40 or 5w-40. Any cause for concern. Many thanks.

How does the Titan 15/50 compare with Millers 15/60? I have been recommended the Millers for my nitrous assisted TVR Chimaera 450. I dont see this grade on your website.

Wee bit puzzled as from what Im reading here the recommendations for the AJP8 seem to be 0w-40 or 5w-40. Any cause for concern. Many thanks. Hi A lot of people think they need a 10w-60 for pretty much all performance cars, but it's an old fashioned approach to oil. People used to use a really thick oil and let it break down to the correct grade through hard use. Modern, good quality oils don't break down like that, they stay in grade pretty much, so if you put in a 10w-60, it will be pretty much a 10w-60 when it comes out. I wouldn't use a 10w-60 myself, I'd go for a 5w-40. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspxOut of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. In quality terms, the Pro R 15w-50 and Millers CFS are on a par, both are absolute top end oils. The reason we don't stock the CFS 15w-60 is that we haven't got a need for it. How hot is the oil in your car getting? Cheers Tim

Its lovely clean oil, but if changing it sooner rather than later is advisable then so be it. Simon.

Hi Simon
It's not the end of the world, a lot of people use 10w-60 for thousands of miles without any problems at all. There's no rush to change it.
Cheers
