Oooh goody, another £120k(ish) sportscar. Luckily there aren't too many out there already...

As companies like Invicta learned pretty painfully, if you're going to go after the big guns you've got to have a brilliant car. 'A bit of character' doesn't really cut it.

People may think that 60 cars isn't that many, but the previous abortive attempts at the Tuscan R and Typhon didn't yield any orders (okay, four or five) at the £75k asking price, so upping the price by 55% isn't going to help matters - carbon tub and turbo or not.

How about a nice, reliable Tuscan made in Britain? Hands up who'd like one of those?

Can't see this ever happening. I sadly think the company will be dead and buried by March. Yet another pipe dream I,m afraid.

...or a ripsnorting Tamora successor (forget £35K chaps, the used market's for you).

A nice 2-seater coupe with a bit of classic sophistication about it rather than overt 'Look at me' embellisments?

Jeez, if they sold well, maybe a 2+2...

Yep.

I understand that Smolenski is not really interested in the £40/50/60k market. He wants to sell £100k cars to people who would otherwise buy Ferraris, Astons etc.. That's why he's apparently unperturbed at alienating his current consumers, he doesn't want them anyway. I'm sure that buyers of £100k supercars are going to be flooding to buy TVR's at the same price. rolleyes Do you think he actually did a brand audit of TVR to show where the marque sits in marketing terms?

Sounds like your opinion.. not a fact.

Guess the truth will be any new cars 'TVR' show at the Geneva motor show. We will have to wait and see. Anyone know when the Geneva show is ?

Autocar speculates at a price of £120k.

Absolutely bonkers. No-one will buy it.

What TVR needs is a new sub £40k Boxster-beater. It must be simple, cheap to maintain, sound great, and look sensational.

Start production of the Tamora again because the Tamora is a sub £40k boxter - beater, in fact the only porsche that will knock it is a 911 Turbo.

LOL, not that I want to turn this into "one of those" threads, but that made me chuckle, thanks!

I think he was going with the obvious there. If you ditch the workers (and their skills) and move to a more expensive country with the added cost that outsourcing must bring - then it follows that new cars will be seriously different to previous ones including increased price.

Saying that I guess its possible that new models could be released next year for more "normal" money, maybe with Elise style aluminium chassis ? There was a mention of radical difference with new cars on the TVR website many months back...

Wonder if Alfa will be showing the 8C Spyder at Geneva.

Now there's an Italian manufacturer & car worthy of the 100k+

They plan to produce 60 - they will be sold out within months I'm sure of it!

Hmm, TVR or Murci LP640?

Only a total eccentric with more money than sense will buy a £120k TVR that will need a £3k service every 1000 miles. I doubt there are more than 6 of them in the world, nevermind 60.

The price I was told was around £100k, and my guess was that it would be the Typhon, with it's all carbon fibre body, and the supercharged speed six mated to TVR's own SMG, both of which were well developed before Peter Wheeler left. The engine was chucking out a modest 500bhp....
