Battery was disconnected from the Griff last night for 15 minutes or so whilst under work.

The alarm (pretty sure it's a meta - the car is a 1999) has now reset itself. I can't set the alarm via the blipper; if I try the whole thing goes off. It does subsequently unarm and drive ok though

Is there a way of resetting/resyncing these from the blipper or does it need to be pulled apart?

Thanks

Dave

Have you got a manual for the alarm?

Going on previous experience with other cars... sometimes you have to turn the ignition on, and then activate the plipper, so that it KNOWS it's you...

I had some alarm problems last year and had to reprogram the unit as I had bought a new 'blipper'. Take a look at these posts - hope they help.
The second one deals with the programming procedure.

No manual for the alarm, but definitely a Meta as I recognise the symbol on the blipper from the web sites.

This is a TVR mate - even the car manual doesn't exactly match up with the real thing!

You may find this useful?

These were originally posted on the Chimaera forum of the TVRCC web site by PeteB

Meta instructions:-

The following instructions are for a META SYSTEM M99T & M99T MICROWAVE.
Disarming - Pressing the hand held whilst the system is armed or partially armed will disarm the system. A single hazard light flash and the unlocking central locking confirms this.
Arming - Press the handheld for up to two seconds whilst the system is disarmed. Two flashes of the hazards and central locking will confirm this. The system LED will begin to flash. During the first 25 seconds of the arming (or partial arming) it is possible to test various alarm triggers by activating them one at a time.. A brief flash of the hazards will confirm which input has been received. The following protection is now in place
1. Door open detection
2. Boot/bonnet open detection
3. Ignition hotwire detection
4. Internal movement sensor
5. Vehicle battery disconnection detection.
If any of the above are activated after the arming period has elapsed the siren will sound and the hazard lights flash for a 30 second period.
Partial arming - Pressing the handheld for up to 4 seconds whilst the system is disarmed will partially arm it. 3 flashes of the hazards and vehicle locking and LED flashing confirm this. The system is now armed as above except that the internal movement sensor has been deactivated.
Alarm memory - On placing the alarm into DISARM the memory function is activated. If the alarm has been triggered during a previous armed condition the LED will indicate the trigger input for a period of 35 seconds as follows:
1 flash every 6 seconds = interior movement
2 flashes every 6 seconds = door input
4 flashes every 6 seconds = bonnet/boot input
8 flashes every 6 seconds = ignition input
After the 35 seconds has expired the LED extinguishes. However the alarm memory will activate every time the system is disarmed. To erase the memory the hand held must be pressed whilst the vehicle ignition is on.
Selectable options =
Anti hijack feature - Doors lock whilst vehicle is moving
Auto re-arm - system re-arms after 40 seconds of disarming unless a door is opened.

I also have a card for the META SYSTEM AQUILA M99/M36T2 & (AQUILA Microwave)
This is the same as the above except it also includes the following:-
Immobiliser arming - The immobiliser will arm and disarm with the alarm. Alternatively on disarming the system the immobiliser will rearm within 18 seconds unless the vehicle ignition is switched ON. The LED will flash. Press the handheld briefly to disarm the immobiliser. The LED with go out.
Disarming using the emergency contact key - To disarm the immobiliser only, in case of emergency/lost transmitter, insert and remove the contact key into and from the key receptacle.

Hope this helps.

This sounds like a problem I have with my siren. Exactly the same symptons. The siren goes off straight away but also no flashing lights which is odd. I have disconnected the siren and alarm can be set. and lights flash if I break in. I reconnected the siren and it goes off then packs up altogether. New siren for me then.

Donatien, be careful with what you say on here. Ted has a very strict policy against naming and shaming. As for your experience with said company, there are many of us here who have used and will continue to use, their now 'ex' specialist mechanic, even now that he works for himself. I cannot imagine for a minute it was him who worked on your car.
