Here are some i've found during my current house-move.
Poor quality scans of even poorer quality pictures but you'll get an idea of what was happening 20 years ago.
Nice to see the Tuscan race cars being serviced too. I'm not 100% sure of the year but these were taken at a TVRCC Back-home event.

Anyone see 'How to build a supercar' last night? Great programme on the new McLaren being built. So similar to TVRs in many ways - body being prepared by hand in GRP carbon fibre, being rubbed down by hand before painting, painted by hand, assembled by hand........
Yes indeed. I also liked the way they mentioned that they only work to absolute perfection. I personally have the same syndrome as Ron Dennis! I keep getting reminded whilst fitting a new kitchen at home by her indoors! PetrolTed said:
Great thread. Really reminds me of the excitement that the company generated in that era.
And that's the real sad part, there's just nothing out there as exciting any longer. For me, being a car fan is not as much fun any more. Lotus, ok but not outrageous or bespoke enough.
Ginetta, ok, but a long way to go, especially the interiors.
Aston, Noble, Ferrari all too expensive.
German stuff lacking in character.
TVR really did tick all the boxes for a young excited car fan.
Its very sad.

Nice pics of your Tas Turbo Chris. The 1982 Motorshow was my first motorshow by myself and a couple of mates going by coach on an organised tour. Was 14 at the time and remember seeing the Tas Turbo there and saying to myself "I'll have one of those one day" .......Well I didn't 'cos you've got it but I've got a 450SE which is the next best thing!!
Think I've got a photo too somewhere, very grainy as taken with a crap instamatic camera with disposable flashes which were capable of burning out your retinas but making poor quality photos.

Who can name those people left to right?? Is Stewart Halstead second from the left? Its obvious thats Wheeler in the background. My dad used to work the stand in the 70's as he was one of the first dealers, when the girls used to strip down. We had some pics somewhere which i will try and find in a few weeks when i visit home...Dodgey_Rog said:

Who's the guy on the right doing his version of 'I'm a little teapot' ?I think I was the one who took the Motorshow pic with Noel's camera. There is John Box, Stewart Halstead, John Ballie, Lesley Palmer, Carole Newton, PRW and Noel. I can't remember the other folks names although I think that the little smiley guy used to own an M Turbo?
Seems like only yesterday and I managed to do most of the Motorshows from 1981 onwards.....No doubt I'd have more braincells today if I'd stayed at home!
Great thread! Tony

Isn't that Baz Wilmot, Tony?I was there the next day, suited and booted, although they had me and Steve Lane folding up brochures most of the time
I met with Carole a couple of years ago and she had some other photos of the show, with you in them.
