Either way, TVR sold the cars with these engines, irrespective of who designed the engines, or which continent some of the components came from, that's their business not the buying public's. So if the engine fails within the warranty period then TVR are liable. There is no arguement is there.

What's your point? Or dont you have one?

Yes i have a point, it's the constant advertisement of TVR's with re-built S6 & AJP V8 engines and 'thousands spent' on them that's frightened so many potential buyers of new TVR's off in the first place!!

Big surprise then (not), that since around the year 2000, sales have slumped, ownership has changed hands, and the owner (or should i say present owner!) has stopped production in the UK.. ..you see my point now?

Umm..............................

I dont think you'll find that any of that is news to anyone at all on here and is in any case irrelevant to the current thread. You'll even find a good few of us actually run the cars in question.

Perhaps this is where the small print of these agreements comes into it.

So you think that there was any small print?

Hey come on, ask someone that knows, not me. If Wheeler & Melling had a big falling out, my money is on the subject matter being engines & 'small print'. Enough said.

I'm sick of people around me slagging off TVR's, i even had to put a Caterham 7 owner in his place last week after he had a go about reliability of TVR's. I commented that a chassis strapped to a bathtub is hardly a fair comparison with a bona fide 'car' with all its accoutrements. Was i right to say this?

To me every TVR looks stunning, and its a real shame that more of them are not around & visible on the roads. And i'm glad that AJPV8 & S6 owners continue to be enthusiatic about their cars & are not disenchanted by the problems that have been associated with these engines.

To Unrepentant, yes its relevant to this thread. The very man who plans to keep TVR British, according to some contributors on this thread, it could be said is the very man who kicked-off the marque's downfall in the first place, due to his engine designs being flawed.

Oxymoron?

Also - the AJPV8 has not been associated with problems (certainly no more than say a 5 ltr Rover V8 lump) for at least 6 years. The S6 now has a decent reputation. Ignoring the current factory and ownership issues I think that many die hard V8 owners would now consider a S6 so long as it was post 04 spec (particularly now a T350 or Tamora for example can be had for so little).

The S6 in my Sag has to be the best engine in any car that I have owned - period, although I can't yet speak for reliability as I have not owned it long enough. Loved the 4.2 AJP8 in my old Cerbera too. Rover V8s? Sounded great, low cost and very effective but somewhat common and, to me at least, just not the visceral bad boy experience that you get with an S6 or an AJP8 which I think are up there with Ferrari's 360/430 and Porsches GT3 F6s in terms of the experience from the driver's point of view.
