Never seen the place, but i am sceptical old sod(sp?) is it possible cars are being marked as sold and then re advertised, they then reappear at the top of the list

Gemini, it may be different up North but down South, in TVR's export market, we have lots of dealers, 5 in 22 miles drive! On the boundry between the Hants and Surrey we have two main dealers within 5 miles (racing Green/Hawthorns) and then two former main dealers, Fernhurst and SHG, a sales operation Adrian Blyth and at least two speciallist/mechanics, Dave Batty and Andy at APM.
Yes they all have a few Chimaera's at the moment, but they don't have many Griffith's or others.
I must put the autoroute on the Hants site!

pies I think Ted's sales software does promote Fernhurst and ABlyth's stock, but not by the (underhand?) method you suggest.

Fair enough mate, it does seem funny when i get 5 to 8 emails a day almost every day saying "new ad" and when i check i find most are theirs. When i check for older ads they have none except range rovers

Note i have NO problems with whatever method they are using to sell their cars, after all they are paying for the service and i'm not.

Another point it does keep the "classifieds" intresting

A simple mod to the ad will get it back to being listed as a new one. - Maybe their master plan ?

Its strange that there are so many dealers/specialist
around that area and us south hants boys and girls (southampton/portsmouth) have to travel miles for nearest dealer. As for Fernies i offered them my car 97 chim 400 Prowler purple 42k history decent nick and the offer was v-poor they had same car for £17500 and wasnt expecting to be offered 5k less!!! i know they need to make a profit i was in the motortrade(sales) for 15yrs and never had such a mark up !! good luck to them if they make a decent profit but 5k top line?

That's what Brian (workshop manager) told me when I was up there the week before last.
Drew is a first class salesman and possesses a remarkable ability to sell TVR's. He also owns a Griff.

I brought mine from him one Sunday last October, it was his forth that day. I think he sold about 9-10 in his 5 days after joining Fernies!

You also have to bear in mind that TVR's don't really need a lot of selling.

I'm up there about every 6-8 weeks and they always have new stock to browse around for an hour or so, when having the Chim tootled.

As you were in the motor trade surely you would realise that th 5k would be brought down by
1 offering a higher p/x on a car than its actually worth
2 customer barters down the price
3 your car would have been woked on (even if only valeting)

yes and you forgot the dreaded VAT i was used to £1500 gross! and even with all you have listed that would leave a tidy margin as i said good luck to them but i will be selling mine privatley and let some one else have a bargin! bargain/TVR ummm!

Once we decided to get a Cerbie off a dealer, we rang round the country, searching pretty thoroughly for the type of car we wanted, and only James Agger & Fernies seemed to have "our" type of stock.

Drew said (I think) they'd sold 34 cars last month, and about 40 this month. including a Tuscan SGirl quite fancied having a look at..

We got our 4L Chim from Fernhurst and buying it was an enjoyable experience.

We pitched up on a dull Sunday afternoon in March. I went for a test drive (with Drew I think) which confirmed my need for a TVR! The following weekend we did a tour of TVR dealers finishing up at Fernhurst. I drove three Chims there and bought one.

It was a sunny day and they were pretty busy. Even so we (my wife and I) had plenty of time to look round and chose cars to take for a spin.

The following week we picked up the car and there was another chap also picking up a Chimaera.

As for their classified ads, I think they're being honest. On the first visit there were four or five Chims; a week later there were 10! When we put down our deposit they changed the classified ad to say SOLD and when we paid the balance they removed the car.

I was up at Fernies today, and low and behold.... completely new stock from 2 weeks ago.
Counted about 10 new (S/H) to them Tiv's today. All, mostly Chims and a couple of Griffs.
One of the Griffs is a sort of metallic orangey colour with blue half hide and wait for it ...matching steering wheel Bet that's going to be there for a few weeks. Not my cup of tea at all.

They also had 3 Mercs and a 440BHP Masserrati (sp)!

So if they are selling 30 TVR's a month, the more around the better IMO.

The only downside is getting your car into the workshop at quick notice.

It is mine
Can someone ask them to put the interior shots on the classifieds?

Have you ever been to Fernies on a regular basis?

I have, and never seen the same car twice.

Mind you never seen any weddings at the church!
