Goodwood TVRCC sprint round this sat (24th May)
Discussion
Had an excellent day out with Myself, Alan_d, T88can and mhowe7 taking the scenic route to get there .
Next round at Goodwood is mid August if anyone needs to clear their diary early . Without a doubt this is the cheapest spectator day out bargin of the year, all it costs the price of your petrol to get there .
No 2 son was busy with the cam-corder and I have a no frills or fancy bits wmw file putting togther about 8 minutes of pure TVR's starting and finishing (sp?). All I need is someone to host it (Luca maybe yhm ).
Cars there range from V8S's , wedges , Griff500, chim450 and for those with the speed6 lump feeling a bit nervous theres even a speed6 cerb having ago . Theres also a kit car with a purple wedge body kit on it

Good news Luca will host the video, forget to mention the Racing Tuscan and a rare(ish) 3000S sprinting as well
Having done the drive there and back in convoy with T88can I think the first person introducing/entering a modern tuscan or tamora into the sprinting scene will collect a lot of silverware, bloody quick is all I'll say .

Thanks for posting up the video - hope we provided some entertainment. I was chugging round in the black v8S - and take it from me, Goodwood is a daunting place to chug around! I definitely need more power - foot flat to the floor round Fordwater in fifth and I still didn't break the 130mph barrier! Apologies for not saying hello - I think I must have been too busy trying to get the heart beat back down to safe levels.
Cheers

It was good fun. At loonnngggg last I have managed to enter the sub-100 club and getting a 96 on the last run and not being in a state of apoplexy when I got back does bode well for the future. Average speed of 92 mph for a standing start lap. Hmmmmmm.
The circuit is very fast and tricky. The biggest problem for beginners is the lack of marks to see where you are on the circuit.
The smoke is the due to a slight overfuelling necessary to prevent the engine from self detonating. Nothing to worry about. The engine will get stripped and rebuilt at the end of the season anyway. May get the 8 throttle body upgrade done at the same time...
PS Harry the 520 is not a kit car. I've made most of the bits myself!

Sound like it was going well, I can see my lap record won't be standing much longer at this rate! Did you beat the Beerlings?

Beerlings were not there. Only came fourth in D11 by 2/100ths. Lost out to Phil Gouriah's RX7 (92 seconds!!) and the Plant brothers Cosworth Escort. Imagine Beerling RS500 power is a stripped out Escort Mk 3 shell.
I was just so pleased, especially as the last time I was there, everything ended up so badly after the 120 MPH incident at Fordwater and I was a little apprehensive I must say.
One of my better days at Goodwood!
Never got to see the last set of timings from the second run. When I last looked Robin in the 'standard' griff500 was just pipping the big wedge, from what Steve has just posted though I assume he got the 99 down to a 96, what did Robin get it down to . I think he was on low 99 first timed run and a 98 in qualifying .
Adrian my pleasure to post such a great day out, considered doing it myself this year, perhaps next if I can get myself and the car into gear . What time did you finish on, last I looked you were on 103 which wasn't that far behind Steve Cox in the 'big' 500V8S .
The sound track on the day bears out the "Can't beat the sound of a bigh wedge or V8S" school of thought ,although I did think that the Speed6 Cerb did have a certain sound on full throttle though .
Again the pleasure was all mine, hope to see you all there for the next round in August .

Hi Harry
Pleased you enjoyed the aural entertainment - pumping out 105db helps on that front (although it does make the noise test a little nerve wracking - a strictly enforced 105 limit!)
Before Steve C launches a protest, I should point out that I only managed a 105.2 sec lap (sixth out of the TVR's using non-handicapped times). You may be interested in the times set by the big boys:
1)Steve Heath 390 SE 96.830
2)Robin Harris Griffith 500 99.740
3)Steve Cox V8S 500 103.250
4)Andrew Farrell Cerbera Sp6 103.630
5)Dave Morris Race Tuscan 104.190
The TVR Championship does, however, work on a power to weight based handicap which tends to redistribute things with, on this occasion, Tony Bradfield's 350 rumbling through the pack and into first place!
Cheers

Another Glorious Goodwood on Saturday and Pete, I think I have smashed your lap record...Posted a 95.07 despite having some slippery moments through the chicane after a certain Scooby decided to leave crap all over it! Still more to come as well.... I think

Bldy well done Steve! And yet more to come you say? I can see I'm going to need that JATO pack upgrade to keep up with you next year!
Bugger I didn't think the next round was until August.
Puts it into perspective though, when you consider it has taken a somewhat tweeked 5.2 ltr purple rocket on slick tyres to beat the old, albeit midly tweeked , V8S's record on a reknowned power circuit.
Does this mean Pete has to now make the round in August to restore the V8S honour.
