T350c in this month's EVO (July)
Discussion
I disagree all other magazines have said the Clio V6 still handles oddly and it was alluded to in the Evo article, most have said if you want a clio a cup is almost as fast and more satisfying for 15k less.
Bear in mind that the Clio has a vast array of extras which can add another 8-10k easily to the price and then the gap is not that great. I do like the Clio and have considered it, but in reality its performance is not dissimilar to something like a 330 BM and it costs nigh on exactly the same money.
If the choice is 27k for 250bhp Hatchback Renault Clio, or 38.5K for a proper sportscar in the form of a 350bhp TVR T350 - then its a no brainer in my opinion.
To buy another sportscar with a 0-60 time in the low 4's would require a Noble at 10k more or a 911 Turbo at double - both making the TVR look very competitive for a handbuilt car.

Whilst I'd agree with most of your comments, if 0-60 is your buying benchmark, then include a Caterham (for half the price again). Once you've been fast, you have been and other things become important personally (but then I'm a sad, old & ugly fart).
I would have no problem setting off for the South of France in all the other cars you mentioned for a holiday. I wouldn't dream of it in a TVR these days and for £45k that simply isn't good enough. The cars are fabulous, they're just generally slapped together worryingly in too many cases.

One of the best holidays I have had was a jaunt down to the Monaco GP and then off to Italy in my Griff 500 a couple of years back. We did it again a year later in my 330 BM and by comparison it was very boring.
You need to drive a T350 for a bit to get it, its very quick but in my view its at is best at 7/10ths as a very effective, very rapid, luxury GT and would be great for a trip to France.

Except that eleven thousand pounds isn't something most people can just brush aside as a minor issue. If 27k is your budget, it's game over.
Of course, there's plenty of used TVRs around at that price. I haven't looked recently, but Tamoras must be getting close by now?
