Not so sure about Dave Batty....

Never had anything less than superb service and support from him. Judging by the waiting list for a slot in his workshop, theres plenty of people that agree.

It also pays to phone first for a quote as service prices seem to fluctuate wildly in proportion to how busy the garage are!

If you are flexible and can slot into a lull it can save you a packet. S'there.

I drive from Chelmsford to Dave Batty in Guildford. Your other option is Offord near Cambridge.

ME too...

ME TOO! (for the last nine years) Only had to zip down from Camberley up 'til now - soon to be a Watford to Batty regular run....

....worth every Shell pluspoint... and some!

Me Too. Everyone I speak to gives Dave Batty oustanding compliments. Off to see him Monday.

It's a matter of opinion. I spent a hefty amount of money on a 6,000 mile service, MOT etc to which I don't believe I got what I paid for. I had to wait over 6 weeks for it to be completed. When I saw my car it had receieved a nasty scratch, the seats were covered in grease. Then it broke down due to a fuel filter not being fitted correctly which I had to rectify. I also have grave doubts about the work which was allegedly done though not fixed.

I don't doubt Dave Batty is a good mechanic - but he's also human and prone to human failings. Suffice to say I won't be taking the trouble to go back there again.

Like I said, it's a matter of opinion. Before anyone says did I complain? I did but he never kept his promise to put it right.

Well each to his own - and you can't please all the people all of the time - but the good guys around here seem to be Dave Batty, Fernies, APM and Racing Green.

Just a bit of info on RG - my good friend and neighbour has told me a story about his Dad's car and put a big thumbs up from the Jaguar side of Racing Green - they're a nice bunch too! No point in relaying the entire story, but they had a very good attitude to solving a problem on a 7 year old XKR and resisted the "let's throw a lot of money at it" route in favour of a considered approach. I have every reason to believe that this stretches to their TVR side too!

I would have no hesitation in getting my car along to see Warren and the guys at TopCats Racing for any sort of mechanical repair/servicing.

Very good at their work and very reasonably priced...nothing is too much trouble.

Cant possibly ask for anymore than that can we?

Well this seems to have started off a big discussion!

I will be taking mine back to peninsula as i`m very happy with them. If you find a garage your happy with them stick to them.

My drive to peninsula wasn`t bad raining on the way there and sunny on the way back, Plus the weekend away kept the girlfriend happy!!

I have spoke to phil woods before and seems to know his stuff, trouble is i wanted to keep it main dealer.

Mowatts are also very good I`ve used them before for one of my other cars, very good at tuning them up.

Thanks very much to everyones input, its been good to see what other peoples experiences have been.

Mole Valley TVR have always done a good job for me; they might not be the cheapest, but quality of work and service is top notch with car in mint condition upon collection.
