Always used Mobil 1 Motorsport 15w/50 as recommended by my dealer (98 Chimaera 400). Used just over half a litre in 2000 miles. Got it from halfords.

See Jess... told you didn't I !

As long as it's fully synth and a half decent brand, it shouldn't do any harm, just different levels of purely subjective improvement.

I bet you don't believe a bloke either when he tells you, a) he loves you, b) the cheque's in the post, c) he won't c........

can't find anywhere that sells the castrol rs though, I need it for my golf...

Anybody know of an online shop that stocks it?

Demon Tweeks is where I used to get mine. Only ever used it in my Cosworth due to the high temp of the Turbo bearings. Not got enough courage to use in Grif.. Millers semi-synthetic for that.

I have decided only to use Extra Extra Virgin Olive Oil produced on a select hillside in Spain and crushed by the footsteps of Mongolian peasants on the last day of summer.

All you need to know about Mobil 1 here: www.mobil.com

Then buy 15w50 if you can afford it, or 5w50 from France. 0w40 is like bat's piss and should be avoided in the Rover V8.

In my three Range Rovers and the 350i I always used semi-synthetic 20W50 and changed it every 3,000 miles. No problems from this (350i had over 80K on the clock when I sold it, one of the Rangeys had 180K on the clock).

not sure what the exact spec is, but I use Shell Helix Ultra in my Chimaera 500 - that, along with Shell Optimax fuel, makes it run like an 'It Girl' on champagne and Jeigermeister cocktails!
