Morning all,
I spoke to Greg from their body shop in Northampton yesterday. The whole event sounded pretty awful.
The firemen said the fire started because of a battery in one of the cars had been over charged by the alternator. The acid and high voltage combo set in motion a set of events that caused the fire in the early hours.
He also said that over 20 cars were saved because of the fire door and a wall down the middle of the shop, it is nice to know these things work.
Supposedly the gates, shutters and parts of the building had to be destroyed by the firemen to get in, and the flames were so hot they melted the gearbox casing of one of the cars, leaving the gears on the floor.
Most importantly no one was injured.
So lets hope they get TVR Power up and running again soon.

Thank you for that, hopefully it will silence the disgraceful comments being made by certain 'members' of PH in the locked thread, They were the cause of the first time I've ever felt ashamed to be a PHer Linked to an article of the front pages, that story (and so the comments) come up on Google and were 'commented' on by other mates yesterday that had read it looking for news
1000's of TVR owners will now be checking their batteries & alternators

Statement from TVR Power
After the recent fire at TVR Power Dom and all the team would like to express how deeply sorry they are for all the customers who lost their TVR's, and the inconvenience this has caused.
Norwich Union have carried out a full inspection on all the damaged vehicles, and are in the process of accessing the claims on each car. As soon as we receive the informatiom from them we will contact each customer.
Approximately a week ago we received into the workshop a T350 with an engine problem. The car was waiting to be worked on and had not been started since the day it arrived. The cause of the fire has been confirmed by forensics as a problem in the battery area. The CCTV system has been inspected and the confirmation of this has been captured. Unfortunately 7 TVR's in total were damaged, however we may be able to salvage 5 of these.
As the building is split into 2 workshops one side of the building was safe due to a secure fire door. The parts division has not been damaged. There has been some AJP parts destroyed which TVR Power will have re-manufactured.
We are currently without a server and are therefore unable to send and receive e-mails. Telephone lines are back up and running we are therefore open for business from Monday 18th August as normal.
Finally, we would like to say thank you to all our friends, customers,TVR owners and everyone else who has shown us great support at this devesating time. The messages we have received have been truly heart felt and helped to give us the inspiration to move forward.
