I hope you don't think that differing bodywork means anything with regards to the numbers of cars built?
No, but if there were a number of chassis made, then what's to say someone didn't buy a body and chassis and put them together? there were only ever enough parts for 5 COMPLETE cars, that's not to say there weren't enough bits and bobs for a rolling chassis.

Also, where the hell did that naked carbon car go? Notice the doors? Different car to the first Scania racer. And it's shown on the move. Perhaps THIS is what Scott found? Just a suggestion. I'll forward my link to Scott and see if he can identify the car.

5 tubs made, not bits of tube welded together to make a chassis, proper folded honeycomb tubs you don't 'cobble' one of them together out of 'bits and bobs' my guess is that the 'barn find' is a show car as all the real tubs are accounted for. Also you say the owner says he bought it from 'a race team' the only people who raced them were TVR and they didn't sell any other than W112.

I do agree it's very confusing. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what Scott finds out, and what the owner lets him share with us. Don't shoot the messenger!

P.S how many tubs does Graham have? And where is the one in a crate? There were only ever TWO race cars, the blue scania, and the black car. The white car was infact the blue scania repainted. The black car was destroyed, and the white car was repainted and carried on until the end of the racing programme (it became the dark purple racer). Then there was W112BHG's chassis. So where are the other two that could have been made up?

EDIT as for the pic being a photoshop, I don't know. There's pics of the carbon car with an engine, race tyres etc etc.

Don't you read other peoples posts? I told you all this several pages back.

Graham has three tubs, including the one crashed @ Thruxton (repaired but not reused)
Then there is the unbuilt one (you don't need to know where it is, just that it exists)
and W112.

5 tubs.

Ok guys, since i posted up about seeing and sitting in the car a few weeks ago there has been a lot of talk about what it is.
is it a mock up..? is it a speed 12..? or a cerbera speed 12..? or is it the car that supposidly went to japan..? To be honest i have know forking idea all i know is that it was the spitting image of the burgandy speed 12, but what i can tell you is this. It's colour is black it has a roll-cage fitted and looks to have brake disks and calipers. I'm planning to go back in a few weeks time how so how will i be able to tell if this is a mock up or a real one? I'm gonna ask if it's possible to move the car a few feet forward that way i can get a good look round it, thanks in advanced wavey

Oh, but I DO need to know where it is. There is an overwhelming desire for me to know.

As for Graham's tubs, one of those must be completely un-used? Unless Steve Rouse was wrong, and there were more than two tubs used in the racing programme?

And Scott, is it ok to give you a ring, or are you working?

ETA The picture of the running 'carbon car' looks awfully like a photoshop image to me. Do you have more of that car as that's the only picture I've ever seen of it supposedly running?
I wondered that, as its the only pic I've seen of the car with that body style running.. I appreciate that its easy to swap the rest of the body work as has happened, but surely the central tub is the main component of the car, and I'd have thought its the Tubs's that we should be referring to when we discuss the cars as thats the one constant..

Is the black car the same tub, just with different door. flicking through the pictures, it looks like its just the doors that are different. the other pics seem to show that car with engine and wiring etc so that it could run. maybe it only tested with the early doors and then the doors were changed.. maybe a question for Steve.

It's confusing me too. I emailed JGR but have had no reply. Is there anyone else who might know? Steve hasn't been on facebook lately so I've not been able to ask him, and I think john reid has stopped posting now. Hmmm.

That's the original Speed 12 (project 7/12). Love the interior of that car. very nice indeed. And yes, that comment is amusing.
