We used to watch this car race in the British GT's
Great fun, & what a sound. It used to pummel the oposition, Lotus, Porkers, Ferrari etc! Problem is, it was not consistent & not reliable. It would often canter out in front, only to be reeled in by the chasing pack! It was certainly the fastest thing in a staight line. Great days though.

Yep, that's the duck pond alright. IIRC this car (original show car) was literally a silhouette - painted "windows" and I think even the brake discs were cardboard...http://ph.uncle-dave.co.uk/upload/images/speed%201...

Jonathan, great to have you contrbute. Hope all is well...? Be interested to hear more info on what components were shared between S12 and CS12 given the structure was so different. Clearly engine and possibly gearbox as I mentioned. I always thought the chassis and suspension components were bespoke to each...?

You forgot about the one that went to Japan and is allegedly being used as a circuit pace car. I've heard this numerous times, can anyone actually substantiate this myth?

just been going through some photos and i hate to contradict ex TVR people but both purple cars,the road car and the racer(photo posted earlier in the thread) were both purple and white in their lives and both raced ! the racer has a different roof line and has an airscoop above the windscreen,i found a picture of the roadcar racing in white livery.

Now the car on th left is the 7 flip paint (purple brown gold blue green......),show car that never moved under it's own steam and did go to Asia for a motorshow.
The car on the right is the same car as the white one.
If you look it has the same roof vent, and was the same car Roops dad drove bit with some mods.
Roop next time you see your dad say hello from me.

The tubes infront of the Speed 12 are part of the Cerb Speed 12's front sub frame.

JGR go to www.speed12.info click on history and you will see the road car painted white.(no roof vent)also look at the picture of the road car in purple with driver,of course it could be stationary.
you have jogged my memory re the flip paint,definately the car in the performance car ? article coming down the motorway.
also the car i saw on a factory visit which i would like to remember had an engine in it(well i would wouldn't i !)
another picture i have of the road car which doesn't want to load up for me from photobucket shows it with the wheels and hubbs off and its bonnet open,odd for a car that didn't move under its own steam.

The article above was very interesting. Slightly off this topic but related- I always liked the Cerbera race car that Martin Short drove in the British GT series a few years ago - does anyone know what happened to it?
