My Cerbera used to be owned by Bill Smith, who was the diver who recovered Bluebird. If it was his workshop - maybe he bought the show car too?

The two purple ones I believe are the ones that ended up being butchered to build the latest incarnation of W112 BHG. The remaining bits being bought by G1ABB who posted earlier in this thread.
wrong
You can't just say that, frown enlightenment please smile

There were pictures of one of these found in a garage about 3 or 4 months back so at least one hasnt been butchered. Please correct me if I'm wrong too hehe

Ok Speed 12s not Cerbera, purple car and white car are the same the white car was painted
7 shade flip paint car was a show car only.
White/purple car is still not far from Preston, it went to HL Gorners and never came back, only body and chassis went though.
Show car was in the same workshop as Bluebird after it was recoverd, not sure how it got there but it did.
Speed 12, Cerbera Speed 12 and Cerbera V8 GT all use more of the same parts than you may think.
Also a very early narrow Speed 12 (the duck pond) was chopped up.

When you say "The Show Car" i assume you mean "The Road Car" ? are you saying it wasn't a runner, because i have a photo of it coming down a motorway ?

any photos of the "The Duck pond" out there ? why the name by the way ?

so is it fair to say that there were 3 Speed Twelves,1 purple,i white and one narrow one which was chopped up ?

We used to watch this car race in the British GT's biggrin

Great fun, & what a sound. It used to pummel the oposition, Lotus, Porkers, Ferrari etc! Problem is, it was not consistent & not reliable. It would often canter out in front, only to be reeled in by the chasing pack! It was certainly the fastest thing in a staight line. Great days though.

I assume this is the one you refer to as the duck pond.

Yep, that's the duck pond alright. IIRC this car (original show car) was literally a silhouette - painted "windows" and I think even the brake discs were cardboard...

Jonathan, great to have you contrbute. Hope all is well...? Be interested to hear more info on what components were shared between S12 and CS12 given the structure was so different. Clearly engine and possibly gearbox as I mentioned. I always thought the chassis and suspension components were bespoke to each...?

I remember the duck pond being at the motorshow with no one allowed to get too close.

---stuff--- My spurious and lighthearted sarcasm referred to the irony of you saying "You can't just say that" and then requesting enlightenment. I was mindful of the Sagaris preview thread where you took on the mantle of Master Of Suspense and instigated an, albeit temporary information blackout in spite of numerous and frenzied requests for information. wink
I was unaware that the two cars were so significantly different...

Ok just me being sensitive.smile The reason I instigated a 'blackout' as you called it was because I was told things in confidence and I was also asked to 'hold back' on other stuff so I was stuck in between a rock and a hard place and trying to say what I could. smile

Because as a working car it was more fake that Bob McFaker, winner of the world faking championships in fakeville. hehe

I wasn't joking about the cardboard brake discs. Thinking back, they might have been chipboard actually. No, pretty sure it was cardboard.

I am thinking now that the wheels were just pushed under the arches as well and the car was otherwise supported...? Can't remember TBH, long time ago. Perhaps Jonathan can clarify...

The article above was very interesting. Slightly off this topic but related- I always liked the Cerbera race car that Martin Short drove in the British GT series a few years ago - does anyone know what happened to it?

You forgot about the one that went to Japan and is allegedly being used as a circuit pace car. I've heard this numerous times, can anyone actually substantiate this myth?

just been going through some photos and i hate to contradict ex TVR people but both purple cars, the road car and the racer(photo posted earlier in the thread) were both purple and white in their lives and both raced ! the racer has a different roof line and has an airscoop above the windscreen,i found a picture of the roadcar racing in white livery.

Hi all
Now the car on th left is the 7 flip paint (purple brown gold blue green......),show car that never moved under it's own steam and did go to Asia for a motorshow.
The car on the right is the same car as the white one.
If you look it has the same roof vent, and was the same car Roops dad drove bit with some mods.
Roop next time you see your dad say hello from me.

DHF no I do not have anyones numbers in reply to your email.
Regards JG

The tubes infront of the Speed 12 are part of the Cerb Speed 12's front sub frame.

JGR go to www.speed12.info click on history and you will see the road car painted white.(no roof vent)also look at the picture of the road car in purple with driver,of course it could be stationary.
you have jogged my memory re the flip paint, definately the car in the performance car ? article coming down the motorway.
also the car i saw on a factory visit which i would like to remember had an engine in it(well i would wouldn't i !)
another picture i have of the road car which doesn't want to load up for me from photobucket shows it with the wheels and hubbs off and its bonnet open, odd for a car that didn't move under its own steam.
