just been going through some photos and i hate to contradict ex TVR people but both purple cars, the road car and the racer(photo posted earlier in the thread) were both purple and white in their lives and both raced ! the racer has a different roof line and has an airscoop above the windscreen,i found a picture of the roadcar racing in white livery.
why not read and take in what jgr has to say, as an ex TVR person and one that was involved with the speed twelve i think he might know more than you.potato muncher said:

What colour is that? Is it purple or black?
From the overall shape and the fact you don't seem to be able to see through the windows it looks like the car that jgr is calling the 'duckpond'
It's black, you can see through the window, but the door apertures are masked up.From the overall shape and the fact you don't seem to be able to see through the windows it looks like the car that jgr is calling the 'duckpond'
Is it just me or is it terribly saddening seeing rotting parts of whichever 'speed 12' variant in discussion discarded on various heaps?
After seeing this at a motorshow when younger, I couldn't wait for TVR to stick it to the worlds motoring world with a new benchmark for hypercar performance.
Thanks for all the posts from TVR experienced peeps about this though - fascinating reading about history of the car. Even if I'm more confused that when I first clicked on the thread

I have been fortunate to have had in my posssesion 6 TVR'S over the years starting with a 3000M,as you can quess i am a bit of a fan, the Speed Twelve is probably my favourite having read the article and seen the photos of both it and the Griffith Speed 6 in Performance car ? circa 1996/7,i can't retrieve it due to it being archived at present,ie no idea which box it is in !.i have always wondered how many cars were actually made and have always had it on my wish list if one was ever available.
if you put yourself up as an expert on a subject be prepared to be asked some questions on same, rather than slinging Rupert out of the pram and stomping off into the sunset.
if you go back through the thread, mine aren't the only questions not answered.yes i have seen Chimaeras with Tuscan front ends etc,but i'd be surprised if one would cut out a centre section of a roof.
at the end of the day i am just a customer trying to find out some answers to some questions..........
