That's a completely new car built by an engineering company based near Blackpool as a technology demonstrator and 'because they could'. They've employed a good number of ex TVR employees. It's built up around the final unassembled tub and with a AMV12 as the base of the engine.

Correct

Yes W112 has been recommissioned and ran at the Yorkshire BNG in 2013. The engine in Graham's 2nd car is running and requires mapping and few final bits finishing off.

The Orange car has done several track days and was out and about in London a few days ago.

Was this in the last 2 weeks? I saw they had a semi-exclusive test day and nearly popped over for a nosey. I'll be miffed if this was the day I nearly went over!

Original red speed 12 going round Silverstone. Good on board sound if you can get through the Peter Gabriel intro music. Linked from Grahams new video.

Pretty much copying me then, in terms of powerplant etc, except it's a replica! I'm assuming it doesn't carry any TVR badges? Difficult to tell on the pictures.

Not sure badges are required anyway, given its iconic shape.

Would be a great launch car for TVR given its size and power plant.

While I admire the car for what it represents as part of TVR's history and having seen them close up being built and unclothed I cannot fail to acknowledge the technical achievement both at TVR to conceive, build and race the thing in the first place and the skill of both teams of guys building them now.

That all said I just don't think the car works visually. It's too brutish and oversized. As a road car it must be a nightmare, I've steered W112 just being pushed into the NEC and you can't see *anything* so I have great respect for the two guys who've just driven the Orange car through London.

Now if they'd built this biggrin

I doubt the view out is any better but for me it just works as a roadcar.

ALl my personal opinion of course.

David

Visibility isn't so bad once you get familiar with the size of it. In terms of looks it was always function over form. The bad ase shape (as in rear end) was purely because the wing couldn't extend out from the bodywork. Therefore big fin equals big arse. Lots of holes to get hot air out and cold air in etc.

Have any figures been published about the replica? I've seen one engine picture but it is probably out of date. Engine looked mostly stock but with a dry sump and appeared to be breathing hot air? Maybe things have moved on now.

I saw the replica at Autosport at the beginning of the year. It's paintwork is.... ermmmm.... interesting! Can't remember anything else about it though, sorry.

Is the bodywork for the original CS12 concept still about or is it only the racing version stuff now?

Would've been nice to build one up like this though I imagine you really need to have the cooling and downforce of the racing bodywork?
