Lots:
CS12 - W112 BHG - engine rebuild has been completed and engine is probably already back in the car. General nut and bolt check taking place.
CS12 - W312 BFV - panels being painted whilst lots of little things are finished off.
If either one is ready for BNG then I'll bring it along. W112 BHG is looking the most likely right now.

I am amazed! I stopped staring at this thread, and I missed it!
G1ABB, congratulations on the first car's completion. You, as well as the entire team must be very proud(, not to mention excited and giddy).
Do you have an expected completion date for the other car? Are there any more progress pictures you'd be willing to share?
Best,
B.
Left to do on No.2 is put the panels and doors on which have been painted, sort the transparent stuff, a bit of wiring, air jacks, lots of little bits like harnesses, rolling road to get the engine mapped properly. I think that's about it!G1ABB, congratulations on the first car's completion. You, as well as the entire team must be very proud(, not to mention excited and giddy).

Just a base map but gives you an idea. Rear wheels move under own steam etc so not far off..
Best consumed with volume on high..

Fantastic stuff. You say not far off so are there any timescales in place?
How is the original car getting along?
Timescale is rolling road dependant and a few bits to finish off. Original car is back at the Lakeland Motor Museum following a tidy up.. I could use a picture or two if anyone is planning to visit the place. How is the original car getting along?

That's a completely new car built by an engineering company based near Blackpool as a technology demonstrator and 'because they could'. They've employed a good number of ex TVR employees. It's built up around the final unassembled tub and with a AMV12 as the base of the engine.
Pretty much copying me then, in terms of powerplant etc, except it's a replica! I'm assuming it doesn't carry any TVR badges? Difficult to tell on the pictures.Edited by G1ABB on Monday 22 December 01:05

Visibility isn't so bad once you get familiar with the size of it. In terms of looks it was always function over form. The bad ase shape (as in rear end) was purely because the wing couldn't extend out from the bodywork. Therefore big fin equals big arse. Lots of holes to get hot air out and cold air in etc.
Have any figures been published about the replica? I've seen one engine picture but it is probably out of date. Engine looked mostly stock but with a dry sump and appeared to be breathing hot air? Maybe things have moved on now.

While I admire the car for what it represents as part of TVR's history and having seen them close up being built and unclothed I cannot fail to acknowledge the technical achievement both at TVR to conceive, build and race the thing in the first place and the skill of both teams of guys building them now.
That all said I just don't think the car works visually. It's too brutish and oversized. As a road car it must be a nightmare, I've steered W112 just being pushed into the NEC and you can't see *anything* so I have great respect for the two guys who've just driven the Orange car through London.
Now if they'd built this
I doubt the view out is any better but for me it just works as a roadcar.
ALl my personal opinion of course.
