A noisy salute to Peter Wheeler
Discussion
Hi all, Ben Samuelson here.
A few people who've derived a lot of pleasure from the cars Peter built have asked if there was a way to show their final respects to him and, although the venue for the funeral itself is rather small, Peter's wife has said that she thinks that Peter would approve of a noisy tribute along the route of his final journey.
At about 10:45 (or just after) on the morning of Thursday 18th June, Peter's hearse will turn onto the A59 at Gisburn, and head East until it takes the turning just West of Skipton for the Crematorium. If there are any TVR owners out there who want to give their engines a blip to say goodbye, there are plenty of laybys, pubs and indeed room in the village of Gisburn itself to park up. If you can make it, I know it'd be greatly appreciated, especially by his kids.
I'll try to keep an eye on this thread if there are questions (I will try to get the registration number of the hearse so we don't run the risk of intruding upon some unconnected funeral, for instance!) but, if anyone can link to it from the TVRCC forum and other threads here, that would be excellent. Thank you.

Hi Ben, good to hear from you but a pity it's in such sad circumstances. I think this may be like a red-rag to a bull for many TVR owners. Indeed perhaps as the thread progresses we should agree some guidelines on where & what is (or is not) appropriate. I have bookmarked this thread and will make every effort to get up to Lancashire on Thursday with "Grizzly" my Griff. Rgds Rich...
Ben,Sadly my car is down at Dulfords getting work done towards the supercharger fitment, will see if they can turn the key at that time.will make Jerry at the club over here aware of this thread as they are exhibiting a selection of TVR's at a car show today.i am sure he will organize something at that time over here.maybe let Mrs W and the Kids know that Irish owners will be showing their appreciation of Peter at that time.

If it wasn't a week day and I could have any chance of getting the day off I'd be there in a shot! I'll make sure that I take my Chim out on Thursday and give it a good thrash and make plenty of noise!!
It must be some comfort to his family that his heart, sweat and tears went into something that is so loved by all of us.
RIP Mr Wheeler....... We salute you.....

Wellyone and I will be at the Cafe just through Gisburn for a noisey rev'up...Hope there's no one in the Police Station near by.
Keith, please give the Great Man a few revs for me - I'm off to Japan again early next week so can't make the day because of work commitments. I'm gutted that I can't be there.Ben, thanks for letting us know about the arrangements for Peter's funeral so at least we have the opportunity to be en route.
I disagree - as long as his family approved..... I think that this is the perfect way to celebrate the life of a man who achieved so much, and built those cars that we all loved so much....
Why not record this event for posterity ?
I hope that 1000 TVRs turn up and can be heard for miles around !!!!

Fook if they had build better steering racks I would be there.
Third try to solve leak in 8 months.
However, this is the third TVR I own and the first one with a little problem.
Thanks Peter will give it a blast in your memory when I pick it up later this week.
Thanks for all the fantastic drives in the last 15 years.
RIP,
Klaas
