Except the last ones, they are all examples of where a company owns several marques and shares engines across them.

Rover engine in a Lotus is a different matter. To me, it says "kit car". "Proper" Lotuses had Lotus-developed engines. OK they usually started out as Ford engines, but there was enough original stuff in it to be called, for example, the "Lotus Twincam". Was the flat-plane crank V8 from the later Esprit one of their own? I know the 2.2 inline four was originally a Ford unit.

Not kit cars but cars with engines which have probably been well sorted which have factory spares availability. Parts should be available new or second hand with these engines as well. Surely this could mean a good driving experience for the owner. What you don't want is a bland or unreliable engine in a sports car. It's no fun having a car in bits and no options on service of pricing for parts.

Think of the really great car makers, ferrari, porsche, Lambo etc. They have all done it with their own engines (I admit I'm not sure what VW are shoving in Lambos these days). If PW wants to play their game then he needs his own motors.

Noble and the like are not in the same market, I think they are more out and out sportscars/track cars whereas TVR are more a very interesting GT.

Anyway even though I have said more than once that I would have a Cerbera with a sorted M5 V8 in it I still love my ancient 4.2 (clatter cams) AJP8 and I'm really pleased they made it.

Long live the S6..

Well said.
If TVR were owned / run by a board, they would never have had the balls to produce their own engine.
I guess we should be proud of anything totally british these days, let alone a thorough bred sports car.
Its important that TVR concentrate on the S6.
IMO

[No less of a TVR, in fact you could argue it would be more. But IT'S NOT A V8!

The classic British sports car engine has always been the straight 6. XK, Aston etc.. and now the awesome Speed 6.
