My front Gaz Gold coilovers have just had to go back to Gaz to be rebuilt as they were leaking after only 3 years. Leaking enough to cause the car to fail its MoT.

Gaz only charged me £50-odd including carriage, which could have been worse, although I also incurred labour costs for getting them off and back on again. Plus my own carriage costs to send them over.

I've not read through the whole of this thread, but can anyone recommend what springs and shockers to put on a '98 Griffith 500. I'm planning to have all the bushes replaced with polybushes in the new year, and want to replace the springs and shocks at the same time. I only use the this car for the road, but I do want some quality units fitting.

Gaz seem to have reacted very positively to the problems, nowt wrong with the Gaz Gold pros now (IMHO and after feedback from other users)

I bought a cheap Trolly recently as had little choice, the next model was £150!
It doesn't lift high enough to get the car onto stands and it's quite difficult to get it under the car anyway and be able to jack it up . Think before you buy !
Would you be saying the same thing if it had happened to nitrons??

Does this type of failure also affect the Gaz Nickel range?
And by the way, what are the differences between Gold and Nickel?
Thanks

Are Nitron's worth the money? Can you fit and forget or do they need rebuliding ever few years like the cheaper ones?

Spring corrosion warning -

I recently noticed during routine maintenance my few years old Gaz Golds Springs on a Chim used only in summer & never in the wet have corroded and lifted the paint quite badly in dehumidified garage while all other components are perfect.

The ownership experience extends over squeaking units - not pleased

My Gaz nickels had the annoying squeek, phoned ab Shocks and they repaired/ updated them foc inspite of being 4yrs + old. Something to do with the adjuster spring?. Returned them within 1 week aswell.
Also had units reconditioned at same time, seemed sensible while off the car. Cost £25 each which seemed v reasonable and are better for it.
Peronally i rate the Gaz units, at half the price of Nitrons are good value for money, also use gaz golds on a race Elise which perform v well (and no squeaks or leaks)

Can anyone tell me the length of warranty on Gaz shocks compared to Nitrons?

So if Gaz are out and Nitrons are expensive, what are the present recommended options ?
Mine are probably due a replacement. What about the original Bilsteins ?

I'm hearing Intrax mentioned here and there - EVO have mentioned them in passing in a praiseworthy way and Racing Green are offering them as an upgrade option on TVRs.

I'm really liking the Racing Reds I had fitted a couple of years ago.

Back to Gaz.

I have a set of pre production "Monos" fitted a year ago. So far no squeeks, leaks or rattles even after harsh track use.

I am very pleased with them, a leap forward from my old Pro-Techs that were fine for just road use.

Daz, don't worry, that was sorted a long time ago.

I have Gaz monos as you know and they're fine after a few years, relax!

With that in mind, is it time for this thread to loose its sticky ?

especially as Gaz's response seemed good and they sorted the problem... seems a bit unfair to keep beating them with it?

I agree, they have been very helpful.

Me too. Seems very unfair to keep this going. I have had GGPs on my Griff for two years. Track and road, they have been absolutely fine.

Agree with Tav above.
