I've bought a Jag PL diff for the M,just thinking about using the inboard brakes from the Jag.
My SEAC had them, never had a problem, thoughts please gents.

Can be tricky to keep cool, being inboard.

yea,i was thinking it would get hot under there on a track day.
I could easy made some ally duct to help with cooling, but would it be worth it.
The front brakes do most of the work and the AP 5200 calipers should be up to the job, just don't want the rear brakes fading yikes

Steve,
I have 5200s on the front if my M, drums with Alfins and trick shoes in the rear and bias control, never lost the rears, but considering outboard discs.

I had a rebuilt 3.54 LSD set up for the M if you were looking, but I guess that's a bit short for you.

Thanks John,
Didn't know you had 5200 calipers on the front.
My diffs 3.07,but thanks for the offer.
You've been on the track once or twice wink so do you think i should go outboard too?

What are going to do with the car Steve?

An exhaust on an M runs under the diff and so causes it to breath after 40 mins on track (race conditions). the extra disc heat will excarebate the situation. I would go drums or outboard discs ...and if it will see serious track time, I would consider a diff cooler - which ever option you choose.

It will be a weekend road car(TVR meets and drives out) but i want to do plenty of track days with it.
Exhaust will exit infront of the rear wheels both sides, the trick will be getting it under 95db heheI don't want it to be like the SEAC where i couldn't get near a track

Hi Steve

If you are going to pass the pipes infront of the rear wheels and keep the noise below track levels you are going to have to make some kind of custom box and short enough to get the pipes to bend nicely, when i made up my system on the Taimar i thought about doing that way.
With the V6 there is room but it should be interesting to see what you come up with.
How is the car coming on, have you got any up todate pics...
Ill be starting my rebuild in the next few months.
Have you seen the M with the rather nice arches and wheels in the random pictures, I would love to do that to mine.

Love to see how your getting on...

Another option is to revise the passenger seat and footwell, and tuck an exhaust box up there, obviously then the passenger will sit with legs straight out and be toasty.

Are you going to run the headers forward a la Tuscan racer/Griff/Chim, that may well give you some options with the above and then just have a passenger side exhaust exit (that way you don't get to burn your leg as well!!!)

Hi Cambelt,
I'm no further forward with the car,had a family member ill with cancer so i've not had chance to go in the garage, the operation went well though and things are looking up.

I can't see the exhaust being a problem,if needs be i make an oval curved silencer so the pipes arn't a tight radius.

edited to add, just seen the pics of the M,looks like the one with the Audi tt arches it's running 245/45/16 same as me.

Thats an idea i've not thought about, will look into it more when i start on the exhaust.
The headers will run forward gives me plenty of room so no need for tight bends.

It's in aload of bits at the moment,i've bought some AP racing 4 pot calipers for the front, need to draw up the mounting brackets and ally bells for the rotors.
The 3d drawing for the exhaust manifolds are almost complete, looking good and they should flow well with no hotspots.I need to sort out how i'm going to route the exhaust,i've got one good idea how to do it but i have also a wild idea im going to look at too biggrin
The chassis looks in great condition,i will be taking it to work in a few weeks to add some strengthening tubes and gussets, probably fit some new outriggers for the hell of it out of thicker tube to help tie it to the rollcage.
I've also redesigned the bonnet hinge wasn't 100% happy with the last one i made.
Finished the ally shroud around the radiator so all the air coming though the front of the bonnet will go though the rad, that should help with cooling.
That's just about it at the moment i think.

I've decided to go with side exhausts so it will look similar to a cobra, well if your drunk and squint abit hehe

I'm looking at the diff carrier at the moment, not happy with the original TVR design.

When thats sorted I can get a propshaft made up,order some drive shafts and hubs.
The chassis can then be hot sprayed with aluminium then powder coated.
Then its fun time bolting all the new parts together. I hope to be at this stage at the end of summer, that's when you will get lots of pics
