RE: Racing Team Creates 7.0-litre V8 TVR Sagaris

It would be interesting to see a standard Sag up against Paul's at http://www.fightingtorque.org/torque/index.php in August
And against a certain Noble
And against a certain Noble
There already exist a supercharged LS1 Cerbera - that has tuning potential in excess of the LS9. I personally think the LS9 would not really make sense - the price for the crate engine is obscene and a breathed on LS7 can generate over 600hp anyway.
Ref Fighting Torque, it really is the ONLY place for these cars to mix it up. Side by side traffic light start and a timed 1 mile. I'll be there this year for sure and hopefully won't be getting humbled by a certain yellow C6 Z06 again!!!

I was watching the Top Gear episode with the 24 hour race yesterday (one of my favorites). They also feature the Ascari A10. Power to weight of 488 bhp/tonne and a top speed of 220 mph...
* Engine: 4,941 cc (302 cu in) V8
* Power: 625 bhp (466 kW; 634 PS) @ 7500rpm
* Torque: 413 lb·ft (560 N·m) @ 5500rpm
* 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h): 2.8 sec
* 0-100 mph (0-160 km/h): 5.8 sec
* 1/4 Mile (400m): 10.8 seconds at 138 mph (222 km/h)
* Top Speed: 220 mph (350 km/h)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ascari_A10
Pauls Sagaris now has about 460 per tonne and probably has more torque than the A10. I'd say any more would be too much in a car with as little weight over the rear wheels as a TVR.
I'd just settle for a reliable 400/400 and the great thing about Topcats conversion is that you get a reliable engine that makes good power in more than just the top 20% of it's rev range, along with a decent clutch and a new gearbox. For what I want from my car this turns a fairly easy decision into a no-brainer. Just a shame I can't afford it!
I wonder if more TVR specialists will start to offer these conversions, or if the cost of Speed 6 rebuilds will come down?

Hopefully we will get some vid of it moving soon - just need to get some decent equipment that can get the noise right. Here is a clip my mate sent me before I drove away at the weekend. "nice torque mate"

That was my wife, she was sitting in the drivers seat at one point but we kept the keys....just in case! I have to say this is an amazing motor, it bloody flies and is astonishingly rapid and already much quicker than any TVR I've seen to date and one of the quickest road cars I've even been in. When it's evolution is complete I suspect there will be very few cars that will get close to it, really coming together nicely and the engine just works with the car. We were all grins on Sunday when we went for a spin, the noise alone is grin factor 10 but it's ability to reduce straights is fantastic as it's the epic burble and popping on trailing throttle. Needs some suspension and brake work (all in hand) and some new ratios and I think it will be something that loads of you Tiv boys will want to do. Might be able to beat my GT3 at Fighting Torque then!
Fantastic car this.

Hi Lee,Can't wait to meet her in the flesh on Sunday if your still coming out to play that is?
It does not sound like that anymore as I had it on track yesterday. I posted on Midshires earlier, I want to make it on Sunday but need to get something done to the brakes, not sure if it will be done in time but thingers crossed they can get it done for late Friday or Saturday morning; I know you and a number of others want to go out in it.
Paul.........
Hi,
I have been out of the TVR fold for a few years now after a pretty bad experience with my T350, s6 failure etc. This thread has got me really interested again. Blackie are you planning to post any more video of the car running, driving, engine bay etc ?
I keep checking but thought it may be worth a quick ask?
cheers
Scott

Thats brilliant, can imagine some sut left on the orange sag the other side lol, how was the performance of you sag when matched to power cars?
Hi I do not want to start a piXXXXX comp with the Power cars, Dom is a mate and I had to go and see him before I did it as I wanted his blessing!I am not the greatest of drivers which is not good when you have this amount of power but what I can say is I did get the fastest lap at Zolder and I was held up a long time on my lap as I have a recovery truck in my way on the apex of the longest corner on the track.
The orange car is Grahams and of course it was doing the same on the other side, we did it again later but had to think about his car.

Wow.. it takes 7 litres in a TVR to make it as quick (maybe) as a well tuned 2.3 litre EVO, in the dry at least.
I almost do not believe you wrote that. I have had much quicker ricers than a 2.3 Evo as well as I have owned a 2.3 evo in my time and it could not touch thisGassing Station | General TVR Stuff & Gossip | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
