Hey folks!

The steering wheel on my 280i is getting pretty shoddy.

I've looked at buying a replacement one from Momo, but I can't find any like mine - they all seem to be more contoured and have garish coloured stitching.

I just want the standard TVR issue model as fitted to Wedgies, S3's & S4's, Griffs & Chims.
Having seen quite a few cars with flashy after market wooden rimmed wheels I'm hoping there might be a few languishing in peoples garages.

Let me know if you have one.

I'm in Lancashire BTW.

Bob.

Not sure Bob, but it's normal TVR size and in black leather.....you may need a boss kit, but it will fit fine. Drop me a mail if you want it.

slightly related, sorry for butting in but looks as thouhgh the sale is definite! Does anyone know if the 6 bolts holding the steering wheel on are a 'standard' with other cars, only I'd prefer a black suede feel wheel.. horses for courses etc..

Bob, if you want a set of chrome bolts for the wheel drop me a note, I've ended up with a spare set from somewhere...

That would be great!

I was just wondering where I could get some fresh ones from, as mine are starting to get a little rusty.

If I see you at Chatsworth or Back home 2002 I'll buy you a pint mate.

I don't seem to be able to email you direct Craig.

Could you send an email to me so I can reply with my address details etc?

Cheers.

Don't know much about bolts BTW but I reckon they'll be pretty standard. Worst comes to the worst, I'm sure you could just change the boss which attaches to th end of the stering coloumn. Just make sure the TVR badge will still fit on!

Just a note, the holes on the wedge are Momo pattern, i.e. rotated through 30 deg compared to the Griffith/Chimaera (Personal wheel) with a single hole at the top.

Hmm, good point!

I'll have a look at my wheel hub to see if it can be adjusted - Either by turning the hub on the steering rack spline or (as I believe is sometimes the case) look and see if it has another set of holes.

Failing that it's drill & tap time!

I bought my wooden wheel from the old "Team Central" dealership a couple of years ago. TMS have a nice new wooden one in stock though, cause I spotted it last week. about 150 quid.

Bob, if you are going to Chatsworth, I will bring it with me then mate.If you can bear to wait!!!

Can the leather be replaced by e.g. a saddler - if so, would it be reallllllllly expensive? (I 've got a shoddy momo 30 degree rotation).

There's more than one kind of steering wheel fitted to Griffs. I had two for ages before I realised. The 4.0's rim was thinker and nicer than the 500's. The triangular part was different too, one being flat and one cranked.

Fascinating, eh?
