The aircraft is one of the RAF Bristol Britannias that I used to work on.
Happy memories smile
If you go along to the Brunch Club meet at 9:00am next Sunday at Cosford RAF Museum, you will see this particular Whispering Giant parked up on display.

I was erring toward a viscount but it is too big for any viscount. Vanguard was a good outside guess and to be honest I'd forgotten about the whispering giant..Surprising how similar the proteus engines are to the rolls royce designs…having said that Rolls bought Bristol's purely for some of the engine designs, particularly the olympus. The Britannia could have been a world beater if they hadn't have had so much early engine trouble.

All fabulous planes from a time when engineers had slide rules and flair.

You are tempting me, Quinny.
I was with a client yesterday who is retiring to France. They have bought a house already, and very proudly told me that they have to drive down the Mulsanne Straight....

.....to get to the shops hehe
