The local village show today. Over 100 classic cars but just the one TVR.

What happened there Derek, a huge backfire through the plenum?
Nitrous button stuck on when i went to purge it in the 'fire up' (apt) lane.
The engine raced out of control so i shut it off.

Then made a school boy error as i didnt take a moment to think. After sorting the stuck button turned the key to start the engine forgetting that there could be a load of nitrous sat in there. KABOOM. Everyone within 100 yards jumped out their skin. I knew immediately what it was.

Did a compression test this morning. From 200 to 225 on all cylinders. Hopefully just a new 72mm plenum, air filter and i suspect exhaust gaskets maybe.
The old adage, "there's always something"!

DSR15 encounter:

Waiting for the ferry: mint TVR Tuscan Mk2.

Dutch owner talked us through his brute TreVoR.

What a looker.

Speed Six vs blue printed RV8.

Bonnet has be unscrewed to get into the engine bay. Klaas (Cloggie) told the story about the 'lifting bonnet' on the Autobahn. A proper and needed mod!

Looks very clean, although I'm pretty sure that's a mk1 Tuscan... Also unless you've had a conversion done then all Tuscan bonnets are bolted down! smile

Changed the brake fluid today after frying it on Friday at Blyton. Also took the opportunity to oven clean and jetwash the chassis hehe

Gave the outside a quick wipe down too

I've been using Halfords Racing brake fluid for years, dozens of TDs, never a problem.

No need to pay Halfrauds mark-up. Just change your fluid from DOT4 to DOT5 or 5.1, it's for sale in every parts traders

It's actually very reasonably priced but i see your point.

Then we'll have the Dot4/Dot5 argument. smile

Sorry to contradict you this early in the morning but track use will fry 5.1 in half a spirited trackday. You will need a higher temp brake fluid such as racing brake fluid that phased surgests. I use AP600 £12.50 500ml not sure how that compares to halfrauds prices

It was 5.1 but was almost 5 years old as i admit I hadn't changed it since the car came back from Belgium boxedin I have put 5.1 back in and hopefully the fresh stuff will last better on track. I didn't know you could get higher grade than 5.1?

I also might need to change away from the OE grade pads as they were really stinking after 10 minutes on track

Its funny how the track quickly bring up weaknesses in the car coffee

Any chance that it was the standard road brakes completely over-heating that boiled the 5.1 fluid? Mine is on 5.1 with proper brakes and has never boiled the fluid.....unless maybe I don't know how to drive on track? scratchchin

Funny things dogs. My 7 year old Staffy loves coming out in my van with me ,his head is out the window all the time. When I take him out in the Chim ,he hides on the back shelf with his head down between the seats. I don't know if its the wind (roof off)or the noise he doesn't like .
