According to John Eales the longer intake on the crossover makes a lot more torque than the equivalent down draft.

He is RoseyTVR on here. If you don't know already, stick that in the search to find a post of his, then email him through his profile.
Think his car may be at TVR Power right now having mods to rockers done (sounds a bit Brighton 1962 to me), but with that setup he must have some photos and he's a friendly guy.
