Where is this video you talk of? In both videos your rev counter shows 8000rpm which others have said is around 190mph. I dont believe you can have a 191mph run followed by a 202mph with the same car run over the same distance, a different line out of the bend may give you 2mph tops but not an 11mph gain especially not up in the 200mph regions.
I am extremely surprised that there is so much confusion over these top speed runs. Craig, I thought you would have had this nailed down to a tee after the amount of events you have organised? Are the speeds not logged? Really? If not, I am shocked. I was planning on coming to the next event but if I dont have an ''official'' set of data from the event organiser then what's the point?
In the results table people are quoting speedo figures and what they think they seen on the board at the traps? This is unacceptable, Surely Craig, as the event organiser every vmax should have been officially recorded?
I think its fairly evident that no one believes the 202 from the Scuderia which is dissapointing as no such confusion should exist if the times were getting recorded and stored properly.
Apologies if I am way off the mark and all these speeds were recorded but from an outsider looking in, it looks like 1 big mess to me.(Scuderia driver basically being called a liar about his claimed top speed)
Craig, can you comment on this?
Liar? Ha! I’ve been called much worse than that.I am extremely surprised that there is so much confusion over these top speed runs. Let’s clear up a few things:
The official top speed of a 430 Scuderia is 198 not 196.
I waited until the timing board changed before I braked; it was not the previous car.
My passenger (who I didn’t know) also saw the 202 display. It would be interesting to see his Iphone footage, anyone know who he was?
Looking at the two videos in Premier Pro I can see that the rpm is higher and the speedo is over 200 mph. I can’t read the timing board or be more accurate with the readings due to vibrations affecting the camera.
On the higher speed run the engine pitch was higher, I recall noting that the engine was screaming and it genuinely felt faster (I couldn’t even bring myself to look away from the track to check the speedo!) than previous runs and the passenger confirmed the speedo was over 200 on the run.
My Scud has done 198 on GPS a few times and the speedo was pretty accurate, since it ran at that pace it’s covered 3000 more miles.
Joust is correct about the exit speed, my early runs when I wasn’t so keen were in the 180’s, furthermore the Scud was still accelerating gently as we went through the timing gear... better exit – more speed.
Wind speed and direction was a big factor, the Scud has some reasonable aero parts so a tail wind will help it.
On the final and fastest run we had considerably less fuel than when we started (although still enough to get home lol)
But the most important thing to mention is ….. What a great day it was.
Craig I had a great time, its refreshing to attend such a chilled motorsport event and it was great to meet so many friendly people, I loved it. Thank you!

hey guys why is there no mention of the audi r8 v10 on the vmax website, thought i saw one on a video on utube ???
haha good question fella as the R8 V10 was me I think its because in all the bickering (we had a troll who was being painful) my comments got missed. basically the R8 hit 200mph on many runs on the 'speedo' but we were going too quick past the timing beams and didn't catch the time, did slow runs of 189 etc but never got to see if the 200 speedo time was registered in the 190s....guess i will never know...till next time.

well you seemed to stay ahead off the ferrari that pulled close to 200,
if you set off from rest is it a 2 mile straight and you can keep your foot in for the 2 mile or is that part off your braking distance ????
Sorry lads, been off having baby (well, wife has).
I saw a 193 for the rs6, will have vmax site updated.
Ref conti's question..
You enter the 2 mile straight from a rolling start (anything from 50 to 130 if you are joust) you then have a 2 mile straight to run but yes, must brake in that distance, the timing beams are at 1.65 to 1.8 miles dependant on on conditions on the day
Hope this helps

NICE ONE THANK YOU, I IMAGINE THEN THAT MOST CARS TAKE A WHILE TO ACCELLERATE THE LAST 40-50 MPH UP TO 200 ?I saw a 193 for the rs6, will have vmax site updated.

Nice one....my advice thoughthx bud
You have about 8 years to get yourself a GAB (gentlemans activity building) as a retreat when the two of them (wife and daughter) gang up on you
I'm hoping to build mine shortly, to include a 2 poster lift, spray booth, gym home theatre room, shower room and kitchenette.
Oh and a coffee call button for the good days
