170 this time. Must have been a 1mph tail wind smile.

Thanks to Craig et. all as usual. Funniest run for me was against that Q7 thing - I suddenly realised after a relatively sedate off the line that the bugger was frigging fast. Cue me nailing all 4 changes to the first corner and then relying on the normal Noble cornering ability to get in front of it. Gave me the fright of my life! biggrin

On his video it says 191mph. I doubt much could be added to that as conditions
stayed the same all day.
Mark.
edit to add; at 23.8 mph per 1000revs 8000 is 190.4mph

Craig's guys do a sterling job but getting all the speeds right for every car flying through the beams at near 200mph must be nigh impossible and reading it oneself at this speed even harder not to mention the possibility of DeResque errors creeping into timing equipment....

IMHO everyone (who is actually bothered about their top speed - ie saddos like me) should buy a Performance box and it is easy to see how the speeds vary very little from run to run and they are pretty infallible.

I give you my 209mph run wink

The 2nd vid shows the 202 and that was from the speed trap, speedo was over 200.
the difference was the exit from he bend as i struggled through there with how bumpy it was, on the 202 run i just forgot the mechanical sympathy and kept my foot in ;-) My passenger (sorry can't remember his name) recorded the entire run on his IPhone, be nice to see that????

8K rpm was my best guess (i was busy!) you can see it on the HD footage anways

Problem is it isn't really ideal for this type of event, the VTG turbos have a fixed size hot side (this is the tricky bit with the vanes and exotic metal) so even with a bigger compressor and compressor housing they get really hot in flowing the air needed for 900+NM from 3500 to 5500rpm so the intake temps go high over 120mph despite expensive intercooling which on Saturday meant I was getting 65c IATs at 200mph at which point the program pulls 5% boost and reduces timing so I was running around 695PS....

Ruf (or 9ff) do not use the VTGs for this reason (and they are very hard to program right) so Ruf's current twin turbo Porsche engines are based on the 996 turbo 9.4:1 comp Mezger which has much simpler electronics and runs a lot cooler but it means you miss out on the VTGs party trick of the most incredible throttle response and laugh out loud kick in the back from 3000rpm on the road biggrin

Post turbo methanol injection? evil brings the IATs down nicely.. Although, you'd need to ensure you had a strategy to cope with running out of methanol..

tongue out

Just noting that the refresh rate of the logs is relatively rapid, are you running a stock Porsche ECU/EMS or have you moved to an aftermarket affair?

Having said that, the refresh rate looks variable around the 0.1s mark...

Anyway, I digress... wink Back to the post turbo methanol injection thoughts? wink

This is the latest Durametric on stock ECU, the refresh rate is pretty quick but I think gets slower the more fields you add for measurement......

methanol injection ? My man this is a Porsche eek...... this German company had a similar idea but it has never really caught on

Had the pleasure of driving the GT2 down from the North to Brunters and can attest to the instantaneous response at all engine speeds offered by the big VTG blowers on TB's motor. I have never felt anything like it, the torque comes in very, very strongly though is very smooth - the ultimate iron fist in a velvet glove tankclap

This engine should be venerated daily sonar

I was thinking of an ECU controlled WOT only system for VMAX and silly time, that was before I knew what the ECU was... I'm used to aftermarket stuff (currently getting headaches from the available complexity in a MoTeC M800 with E888 & ADL) where something like that is relatively easily achieved.. It could even be linked to a discrete, dash mounted, arming switch...

Sorry, I said discrete didn't I.. wink
