The 2nd vid shows the 202 and that was from the speed trap, speedo was over 200.
the difference was the exit from he bend as i struggled through there with how bumpy it was, on the 202 run i just forgot the mechanical sympathy and kept my foot in ;-) My passenger (sorry can't remember his name) recorded the entire run on his IPhone, be nice to see that????

8K rpm was my best guess (i was busy!) you can see it on the HD footage anways
If your Scud did 202 through the lights I think that is by far the headline story of VMAX Hammer.... and probably the fastest ever ferrari there too.
Need to drive minne harder...

Could well be, can you upload it? i just played the HD footage back and the rev counter looks like 8700 rpm, all leds are lit on the steering wheel asking for another gear (which it doesn't have) - speedo looks about 205 to me

Had a great day on my first vmax - I was in the V8 Vantage S roadster

Was concentrating too hard to see the timing board on most of the morning runs but thought I saw 173 on one occasion. Hopefully Craig will post the official results soon. Also tried a couple of runs roof down - 163 without the wind deflector and 168 with the wind deflector in (those speeds were taken from the timing board)

In the afternoon, by which time I'd got the hang of it and was happy to look at the timing board, saw 170 on at least 4 occasions

Pretty happy with that as I had a boot full of luggage, 97 octane fuel (apparently the S has been designed to run on 99 octane to take full advantage of the mods), not enough experience of the car to fully nail the bend (I've only had it a week) and 7th gear is more an overdrive so the rev drop from 6th to 7th is quite severe but you hit the rev limiter in 6th at about 163mph so you do have to use 7th

Am sure if I go again and address the first 3 issues, should get very close to 180. Given more room, could do a lot more though - the engine had c. 1.3k revs left in it in 7th when going through the traps

Thanks again to Craig and everyone else involved, including for my passenger laps in the NSX, Atom and Morgan - everyone was very friendly and it was a great day out.

Craig's guys do a sterling job but getting all the speeds right for every car flying through the beams at near 200mph must be nigh impossible and reading it oneself at this speed even harder not to mention the possibility of DeResque errors creeping into timing equipment....

IMHO everyone (who is actually bothered about their top speed - ie saddos like me) should buy a Performance box and it is easy to see how the speeds vary very little from run to run and they are pretty infallible.

I give you my 209mph run wink

Toby, very impressive tuning given those VTGs you have and aero factors.

Congratulations.

Unless the Scud was the Ferrari demo car there's no chance it's done a 202 true speed. 202mph on the speedo fair enough, but likely mid 190s true.

Farkin' Ell. Impressive on both counts. Glad you were relatively unscathed after your incident. The tyre marks on the runway looked substantial. smile

The skid marks where rather substantial indeed, I saw you drive out on a new set of wheels at the end of the day as the AA arrived for the Tuscan so all must have been ok.

The rear end twitched when i went to brake, so i lifted then when I tried again it spun. The AP rear brakes were too good. Not a nice feeling - and i have not stopped thinking how lucky I was. I don;t think i'll do anymore top speed runs in the b5 S4s - i've used up my luck on those.

Thanks everyone and especially Craig and the V-max team for a wonderful day on Saturday! Had a very good time, and met with some great people. The lack of power and the brick-like aerodynamics of the mini meant 144mph was all I could see at the timing beams smile Also thanks for the p-rides and to everyone who made us feel welcome.. Oh and also top points to Oscar as well!

Well it was 202 on the Vmax timing gear and the HD footage shows the speedo at 205, rev counter about 8700. Are you saying well all have to take 7mph off the Vmax displayed speed?

I've had the car since new and its reliably done 198mph on GPS a number of times previously. I also think we had a reasonable tail wind during the day.

With only 1 Ferrari at VMax Hammer I am certain the the speeds recorded through the traps on
the 'top speed sheets' will show the Ferrari's efforts.
I will say the traps were to to close to the timing boards and I for one and Charlie had passed the boards before the speed came up. I might suggest the 202mph was for the previous car.

Mark.

I agree with traps, my R8 V10 flew past at an average speed of 200-203 over most runs but the timing board didnt update, i assume only after i flew past it! So i never knew what my top speed was. The only time i saw 'change' was 187...so all i can say is thats my time but clearly given i was much faster over most other runs im hoping it broke the 190mph.
