Lesson, I believe I took you out in my car? (Grey RS6), massive soft spot for the E46 M3, I will own one someday, I'd have it in your colour too.

That's me mate thanks very much for the pax run, what a monster your RS6 is. I have a video of your RS6 from my car so I'll get that online ASAP.

I do love my CS, out of the bottom corner it was sublime especially when it got wet, however to get anywhere near most of you in a straight line I need to invest in a serious turbocharger conversion and some big AP brakes smile

Craig, Matt with the Silver 996 Turbo was one of ours cars as well - just a basic stage one without even upgraded intercoolers or exhaust - he ran an amazing 189 or 190gps - the car is a 9E40 please.

What a great day! A massive thank you to Craig once again. I've lost count of the number of VMax's I've been to now but each time they get more and more fun.

Whilst I certainly wan't the quickest (my slowest to date actually, pretty sure I was the slowest of the day!) that didn't stop me from having a barrel of laughs. The little M135i was cruelly hampered by its limiter which it repeatedly bumped into about two thirds of the way along the runway. So I posted a best of 156mph. 30+ times...

Fortunately we had the M6 as well which although was someway off its VMax pb due to the stiff headwind still managed a 184 which isn't too shabby for an almost standard car. It certainly helped relieve the pain of that damn limiter. Interestingly the M135i pulls at a very similar rate to my E39 M5 at Brunters so I expect a similar result once someone figures out how to de limit the damn things. 170mph should be achievable without too much fuss. I certainly enjoyed dragging other cars off the line, even if they weren't trying it was enough to make me smile.

Another excellent day. Cannot wait for the next one. Sans limiter!

I ran against you a few times in my old grey B5 S4 when you had your blue E39 M5 and were even run after run if you recall.

Saturday I was trying my new silver B8 S4. Mine also a standard car, but I reached 162mph and hadn't reached the limiter yet! Another day I would hit the limiter I am sure, but in standard tune I think at best that will not be that far before the timing beams, if before at all depending on when it eventually hits.

We ran together for one run at least and you were hard off the line and we were fairly even until I braked for the appraoch bends. You were very entertaining with how hard you were braking and entering those bends, it looked like it was an all out effort everytime, complete with emergency stop brake lights flashing. I actually came over to check what brakes you had on the car and was surprised to see a standard setup!

Here is me running with the M6 to the bend:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HU0F1yMKmhw

I did not complete that run at speed and left early after that as I had a misfire code thrown. It cleared and has been fine since, so maybe I should have stayed, but I played safe. I really wanted to do some runs lighter on fuel and against the RS5 in particular, but another time and maybe without such a strong a head wind next time too.

I also wanted to post specifically to say thanks to Craig for putting on another great VMAX. This was my fourth in total now and they are days I treasure as there really is nothing else like it.

One thing that did concern me was the deterioration of the left hand side of the runway on the first leg from the start, down the bend. The surface is shot! This has been deteriorating for a long while and I wonder if maintenance is ever likely?

I noticed not so many drags off the line (I know not everyone wants or chooses to) but I wonder if perhaps it was due to those running on the left feeling the surface was not suitable for that.

The format of VMAX is tried, tested and loved and I am hesitant for fear of being shot down to even suggest changing it, but if the surface in that area is bad, perhaps starting at the dead end of the straight an alternative? I think I would easily achieve the speed I carry around the bend by the same point, if not more and that needn't be with a 1st gear launch either. Not so much fun perhaps but if the surface as tired as it is and only getting worse something might have to change. Just a thought.

Thanks again, I am sure I'll be back smile

Nice video James, think you need some big turbos... Next Vmax, I'll launch a little more aggressive and break your 215 cherry eek

The gearbox ratio is limited at 215, so thats all we will do, but we'll do it all day long biglaugh

Great video's James. Looked a really good day. I know quite a few of the Audi lads from when I had a B5 RS4. Now I'm in an E46 M3 I didn't think there would be much point running against the big boys, but you've shown a fantastic day can still be had and your pace was very good. Might try and pop along to one of these in the future regardless of which car I've got at the time.

Graham, the B8 goes very well in stock form. Pleased your misfire seems resolved.

Thanks mate smile

The old s54 still packs a punch although when your lining up against anything from 9e or 700bhp+ V10 RS6s its just about rejoicing in the sound of the other guy disappearing into the distance! biggrin

The thing I most love about VMax is seeing the cars actually being pushed hard and doing what they have been designed to do.

Another video: the two monster RS6's going head to head http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04nvUP3SMsw
