I'm about to buy a Spitfire to put back onto the road and thought joining an owners club would be useful, but after a quick Google there appears to be quite a few. Does anyone have any recommendations for any of the clubs?

I'm a member of TSSC and the club members there are very helpful, and you get a nice little magazine every month. I expect each club has its own benefits, there won't be a huge difference between them. Classic owners who have bothered to join a club are usually friendly folks.

TSSC and Club Triumph are both worth joining. The forum on CT is easier to navigate, but both are full of helpful folks.

TSSC are the best club, I'm still a member even though I sold my Vitesse Mk2 Conv' years ago

I am a member of both the Triumph Sports Six Club TSSC and Club Triumph. The Club Triumph forum is busy and the club includes a very active group of people who actively use their cars rather than just polish them.

Not forgetting of course that Club Triumph organise the Round Britain Run every two years.

In my experience the TSSC membership is generally a little older than CTs and more likely to run large shows, camping weekends, etc. CT members tend to be more interested in modifying cars and the club is more likely to run driving events, like the RBRR. TSSC have the better magazine and used to have the better forums but they managed to kill them a few years ago and I'm not sure they have managed to catch back up with CT. TSSC have a 3-company, agreed value insurance panel that's certainly better advertised than any CT one - if it exists. I've used italics above because I'm in to modifying and driving my car not polishing it and sitting in a field looking at it, and am probably below the average member's age but am a member of the TSSC rather than CT

Thanks for the replies guys. It looks like it's a close call between the two.
Are either of the TSSC or CT forums better for technical advice for a beginner?

You can use the CT forum without joining but need to be a member to use TSSC.
I'm a member of both - each have slightly different benefits.
I prefer the magazine produced by CT.
Should be a good TSSC event at Stafford this year as it is 50th anniversary of the Spitfire this year.
The Triumph Spitfire group on Facebook has become quite active these days too.

The peeps in Club Triumph all seem good and the forum is well supported. If you join CT and are not one of those people who need 12 hours kip, do the HCR in a couple of months time. Real enthusiasts and a mad event around England. A 1000 miles in 24 hours for me last year!

(And was at 16 and 17 ). My car doesn't respond well to polish, due to the general lack of smooth paint on it, but the local TSSC group is a positive hive of help and information!

Depressing - I'm (just) more than twice your age. I'm still probably under the average member age and it does mean I've owned my Spitfire longer than you've been alive, as I bought it/origonally joined the TSSC when I was 18

This is my dilema... I’ve just bought a TR6 and wasn’t keen on joining the TR register because from memory (and what I have heard) is very clicky? So I am trying to weigh up TSSC or CT myself. … I am leaning towards CT for the forum.

FB I've been a member of the TR register for about 25 years now and although I've only once been to a meeting (so can't comment on cliqueiness or otherwise) I've found it a very useful club. Cheap insurance and a great magazine in particular. At least they all seem to be pulling in the same direction, unlike one or two other clubs I've joined and left. The TSSC used be very good too, but I left that in about 1995 when I got the TR.

Flip a coin and join either TSSC/CT/TR then, unless you really like your first choice switch to one of the others. After 3 years you can pick the one that suits you best. That or end up a member of all 3

You can be join the TR Register forum without being a member of the Register - worth doing for the sheer amount of info and help available. I don't find my local Tr Register group at all cliquey, but why not go to your local group meetings for a while and find out? They will let you in without you having to join first.
