So my TR6 water pump has started growling. Nothing leaking yet but making all sorts of noise and the shaft has visible play when wiggle it. Does anyone make a quality replacement? I know much of the pumps come out of India are rubbish.
Anyone ever use a Saleri pump? I have had good luck with their BMW pumps.

I could also get this one rebuilt but i would rather have a shorter TAT.

thank you for the help.

On a TR6 engine, you have to keep the mechanical water pump if you fit an electric one, to use the pulley as an idler.
Otherwise there is no way to keep the fan belt taught and the alternator going.
Davis Craig, the major electric pump supplier, says that you should "disable" the mechanical one, so I ground off the vanes on the rotor.

why can't you just fit a smaller fanbelt?

cut an old one,

set the alternator adjuster to its minimum, wrap the cut belt around both pulleys and mark where one end overlaps the excess belt.

then set to its maximum and do the same with the belt.

this should give an idea of what belt size to look for as they normally have the length/circumference printed on them
