Is it either Rimmer Bros or European Car Parts for these? Seem to be about £550 - for fibreglass one.
Anyone got any feedback?

Yes – why not get a proper Triumph TR6 steel hardtop on eBay? I got one just before Christmas, not mint by any means and in need of a respray but otherwise serviceable, for £200. Being me I've stripped it right down to a bare shell – it's actually a very nice little self-contained resto-project in itself. It's away being sprayed at the moment (I hope...)

Two things to note.

1 Make sure if possible that you get one with the various mounting brackets and bolts – I'm not sure if they're all available (although I got a couple that I was missing by return of post from Revington, ditto the chrome finishers, one of which always seem to be missing – originally held in place by hope alone I think).

2 The hard top is surprisingly big. I though it would fit in an A6 avant but no way. It might fit a giant Volvo type estate but in the end I got a mate to pick it up in a van, so factor that in when bidding.

Here you go:

That one actually looks about the same condition as mine was, although not covered with vinyl.

All IMO of course, but I think the Triumph one looks better than the aftermarket ones, for some reason.

if you do get an aftermarket fibreglass one, please do post some feedback. I'm thinking of doing the same in a few months before the winter weather kicks in be good to hear your thoughts.

Dotdog - are you a member of the TR Register?

It may be worth posting a "wanted" ad on their forum. I know of a few owners who have a hardtop just sitting in their garage never used (as TRs tend to be nice weather cars). These owners may not have thought about selling their's and might need the thought putting in their mind.

Yertis - I agree with you about Triumph making some good looking hard tops. I actually think my Stag looks better with the hard top on than it does as a convertible.

I worry about you Yertis.

In another post you state that an old scrapper of a BX is cooler than Stags and TRs and now you write this. weepingeek

Methinks you are a closet Francophile

hehe

My first car was a 2CV and I do like Citroens, right up to and including the XM. I especially like the Xantia too – terrific Bertone styling. I always had a bit of a soft spot for the BX – one of my design lecturers (who was a complete francophile) had one, as did a girlfriend. And you just never see BXs now. Whereas I see a TR6 every time I go into the garage, and TRs in general are a fairly big part of my life. You have to admit TRs are pretty easy to run. Running a BX would be a nightmare, and deserving of special praise.

Love the look and especially the drive of a TR6 with a STEEL hard top.

OP did you find a hardtop in the end?

I've just ordered a Lenham Hardtop from Rimmerbros. It arrives tomorrow. smile
