Fathers all Steel (260+bhp)engined racer is nearly ready for firing up and running in.

Was really just a fast road car until started work on it a year back, even though we have raced it alot (but not for 3 years).

Spec on it in my profile - can't wait to race it - but will be next season now - winter to run in and maybe lighten a tad and drop a 4.1 in the slipper.

Ooo -

Oooo -

Mmm -

For the V Power -

Whole car is like that. But is does REALLY get used - just not for last 3 years, gearbox is for instance all new Close ratio on with race spec (super fast - like a switch) revalved Overdrive, all steel drive shafts 315mm Rotor and AP race brakes. Will need a plastic hard top and change to 4.1:1 Final drive (from the 3.9) before next season. But will be a wild run while running in. A good bit faster than TVR Griff 500 for instance!

Heck Jon, that's immaculate! I really hope you don't take a knock in it. Have you any exterior shots I can see?

1st Class John. BTW, my self firing extunguisher problem at brands was sue to a dodgy external firing switch. Basically water gets inside them, starts corroding and then you get all sorts of problems. Just in case you know anyone with the lifeline electrical, get them to check its state regularly.

here you go

Both from a few years back when a well warmed over Roadsports car in TR register (won class in chmapionship it in 2000) - TR4 has never been reliable enough to win a class let alone overall championship! At least 6 was reliable for 3 ish years when we used it when 4 was ill!

Jon, I thought Mick Richards won a championship with the Eve Trackway 4 before doing it again with a TR7-V8.

Oh, your bung's here in case you need to plug a leak

Look the business Jon! I know that engine bay so well.

Is that some kind of racing spec fuel cell in the boot?

I feel a little depressed looking at the pictures, had my TR6 for about 7 years, during that time rebuilt most of engine transmission, fitted an oil cooler, bosche pump, you name it I did it, but was always a sick car, had no end of problems. Sold it last year to get the Cerb.

Spatacus - father had it alot more than 20 years and turned it from a very average car it the no expense spared racer - twice the power of a std on! Should be more reliable and a tad faster on the longer tracks than the 4, even though not as light.

Boosted - will call you on tuesday to get plug (just back from honeymoon) and off to get the Griff 200 over next few days.

Looks fantastic.

We bought a TR4 racer a couple of years ago, we haven't raced, but it's great for track days and driving in the peak district. Our car won a few TRR races before we bought it.

That is the ex Derek Dingle car?

Yes one some Roadsport class events I think, not in Class C or D - very nice car - has webbers now.

You should come out and race - but in the Thoroughbreds - you would do well in that against the MGB's

Where does that breather pipe go from the front of the rocker cover, and why?

Catch tanks but that is being moved to scuttle - new Expansion tank will go there and outlet from Rocker covers are all being changed.

The TR is certainly a lot of fun, especially through villages where it'll set of car alarms! It is tiring to drive on the road though - stiff, vicious clutch, road legal track Yokos etc...

Racing is certainly something to consider for next year and would put the car to good use! It's my father's car, and we have a family business which eats into our leisure time somewhat at the moment.

Is that a TR5 nect to the 6?

Racing cost but IS So much more fun than tracking - "allowed to overtake!" - I really recomend doing it especially in at TR I know that is as well put together as te ex- Dingle car.

Think it was more a very fast road engine rather than the top TR class car engines - but would well aginst the MGs - maybe a head skim for a but more CR.

The White car is the Bonkers Fast TR4 (for sale soon) - Tr lap record round Thruxton....
(had it 17 years) just bought a Griff 200 to restore to full fia to replace it (2 - 3 year project!).
