TR6 Racer nearly ready to roll

Racing is certainly something to consider for next year and would put the car to good use! It's my father's car, and we have a family business which eats into our leisure time somewhat at the moment.
Is that a TR5 nect to the 6? The White one is the TR4 (see my profile) for sale post winter engine freshen up (doing this now) - beats all TRs bar a few of the very fast TR6's (in including TR8's here ).
IT LIVES - finally had it started for the first time yesterday - load on with all other cars and a few minor electrical issue we needed expert (chap who did my special Chimera) in to sort.
+Have to put up some of the Brakes!
NUTS 315mm Solid Rotors (inside 15" wheels" - mm's to spare!) and AP Racing calipers on alloy bells by BG all on adjustable bias.

Are going to be running an original TR gearbox or is that uprated too?
Mine is knackered yet again - thinking of going down the Toyota route next time...
Don't suppose you can race with modern bits like that though can you?
Right on both counts. Mine is knackered yet again - thinking of going down the Toyota route next time...

It it was just an aout and out fast road car I think I might go Toyota, but a well built TR box with the fast (race spec revalving gives you 6 gear minimum (7 if you have it on second which we do not bother with). Ours is all built by Pete Cox with a Close ratio gearset and the trick OD (J type) as above (have this in my 4 to - FANTASTIC.

Nice one Jon, I look forward to seeing it at some events this year! How come no electric water pump though? I have to say I'll be surprised if anyone can see off Joe Henderson though. Steve
Electric water pump - gimik, and not allowed in alot of events, make more difference to small engined cars.
joe is beatable. Faster lap time last year at brands in my 4 - but he is THE MAN.

Looks fantastic! I'm nowhere near that far with mine. Work commitments have meant I have had hardly anytime to get near mine. Hopefully once March and April are over, the manic stuff at work should have calmed down and I will have some free time to get going.
You know Racing it is the sensible option!!!!!! http://video.google.com/videoplay?doc
Will post one soon when run in / racing and can give it full beans.

Jon, what class so you run in and will you be at Brands?
Will be at Brands on the 6th May in the www.thoroughbredsportscars.com/ (after the Mallor one on the 22nd). By the way we have left the steel rear wings on the car with the aerial for a laugh - might put the aerial up with a flag on it - see how long it is b4 someone moans!

Jon, where do you get your carbs and ignition set up? I have yet to find anyone that either knows much about tripple Webers or if they do, can be bothered to do anything with them.
Usually at HiSpec Nr Birmingham - long way to go - but Mike Mobbley is THE MAN. However father has found place near Cheltenham (TR's are based nr Swindon) that has come highly recommended - so going to use these on monday for the initial setup then run in next week, then either back to these guys (will get name on monday), or Up to Brum for final tune and numbers (we know what mine makes there 216 at the wheels for th 4 and 239 for Mike Hazlewoods TR6), or might go to place in Castle Combe - they are getting new roller this week (have used them b4 and pretty good.
Get my hand on it tues or wed I think insured and mot'd for run in for a few days surrey - swindo and back a few times.
Starting to doubt some of the Rear wheel numbers that had from HiSpec - even though he is fantastic a getting the carb working to there max (that is really the Most Important thing).
Did first race on Sunday with a car 100kg heavier than the winner of the race, with a longer final drive and a screen and still got fastest lap (from the back - not 100% happy with new brakes and clutch and not driven it over 4.5k revs before the race - so asked to start there (gridded 4th) but did not waant to mess anyones start up). We had ours on a new state of the art Flywheel calculating dyno to set ours up and it only showed 210bhp (admittedly they did not have the right choke in (they ended up setting it up with the 36 choke and jetting to suit that were in there) - but have ordered the larger ones and will jet and advance to suit before next race. Think this may gain 15 - 20bhp max with out a pulse (full banana equal length custom manifold).
But anyway - it went well. And should be faster at Brands as we aim to have the carbs set right and put the lower final drive in that the rest are running and my 4 has.
