Hi guys im new to the site although i have been reading the posts for a while.
My query is this i currently have a 1971 Triumph stag which has a Rover V8 in it,however the car belongs to my dad but is on loan to me on condition that i do some work to her.
The list is quite big on what needs doing, but she is driveable (mot'd, taxed etc.). The thing is i want to make her go better and handle a lot better. The tyres i think are metric and needless to say in the wet the car perform's like its on ice. anyway if you have any idea's i would be grateful.

Hi there,

Ive had a Stag for a couple of years now.
Fitting Poly Bushes to the suspension, firming the ride up nicely and stopped the back end twitching nervously when changing gear. fairly straight forward job to do, except for removing bolts untouched for 27 years !
Not much of a mechanic so havent tried to tune it up too much.
Theres plenty of options availible though, take a look at www.monarch-stags.co.uk/index.html for a pretty comprehesive list of options availible.

My cars got the original triumph 3.0 L engine, never driven a Rover powered car, would be interesting to see how much more powerfull it feels.

Brakes are not too bad, Ive got some new discs and "greenstuff" pads waiting to fit, you can go the whole hog and convert the rear brakes to discs as well.

When I have more time, I may tinker some more, but at the moment am happy to have a car that to me drives pretty good.
