Hi, if anyone could help me I would be very greatfull!!!
I have fallen in love with the Triumph gt6 and for the first time find myself able to aford a classic. Does anyone know where I could find out what to look out for when buying and any general help would be great!
thanks

Are you looking for a fur-coat-no-knickers type of car, one that looks like it's good, to drive the ocassional sunny Sunday and take to shows and meets
Or one to actually use
You can now afford a classic , is that buy it, maintain it and keep it running ?
Have you ever driven a classic recently let alone a GT6 ?
I'm not trying to put you off just to save you spending £000s in one year like me
Fancy a Sapphire Blue MK3 with many, many thousands spent on it for a very good price ? - PM me, Nigel
PS I can tell you at least one Triumph specialist to avoid, buy a BGT instead, see my Profile I know about running daily classics (or thought I did until I got the GT6)
Here's an offer (too good to be true ? depends on your life experience so far)
I'm not really selling my car (at the moment!)
You could come up to my home and have a look at my GT6 and I'll point out all the things I know about wrong with the GT6 (an enthusiast or seller would be very unlikely to do this) and if you have insurance you could drive it find out just how different a classic is drive compared to a modern car (I've driven both classics and modern cars as daily drive for the last 17 years)
Have a look at my Profile, PM me if you're intertested it's the only way I could give you the vast amount of information I have and you must drive a GT6 before you buy one - I didn't, BIG mistake

Well, Mr Bear, you've been very unlucky. Most people who've had GT6s love them. I used mine as my daily driver / only car between 1990 and 1995 and in all that time it only let me down twice, once when a dizzy cap broke (my fault for patchy servicing) and once when the diff blew (and again I should have replaced it beforehand because all the symptoms were all there for ages beforehand). They're very easy to maintain and repair, finding a good one should be no problem but I'd be inclined to get one that gets used alot rather than a "dry Sundays only" or show car, ie a bit careworn but well maintained. Don't let nay-sayers put you off, they're great fun and look cool too (girls love them ) I only sold mine to get a TR6 but in retrospect wish I'd kept (or, rather, been able to keep) the GT6 as well.
