A friend I'm helping is having a wee bit of trouble alligning the doors on his restoration project. I'm glazing the car for him but cannot do the door-drops until the doors line up properly.

This is the problem.

It seems the front of the car needs to drop in order for the doors to allign correctly. He's looked at the back but we need movement at the front.

The front edge of the door windows are a few degrees out when compared to the windscreen frame.

Thanks in advance.

You can adjust the sit of the body on the chassis by inserting or removing the thick rubber shims/pads that are sandwiched between the two. The TR456 body shell and chassis combo is pretty flexible - my doors don't align properly if the car is jacked up.

The screen rake is adjustable by loosening the bolts in front of the A-pillar, but you need to do them up in the correct sequence or you'll bend the scuttle. Unfortunately I can't remember what that order is now. paperbag

Thank you. Is is normal then, for the angle of the front of the door glass to be out by quite a few degrees? This can be corrected by the adjustments you have recommended?

Well the glass is located by the winding mechaism and the channels in the door - there isn't a huge amount of latitude for adjustment on those. But the screen angle can be altered by a few degrees (wouldn't like to say how many) - in fact my own needs adjusting but I've not got around to doing it. Can you post a pic? You might also try these questions on the TR Register website forum - you'll probably get a lot more sense out them.
