My winters are being fitted today. First time I've ever used them. Hope they make a difference. smile
I'm getting them fitted a week tomorrow...I fear that such a preemptive move will guarantee 'Warmest Winter Since Records Began' headline come December 25th.

I'm having Hankook I'cept Evo W310's fitted to my CRV. It was due a new set of tyres shortly so I thought i'd take the plunge...and ensure I bugger up everyone's dreams of a white Christmas. hehe

Just stuck a set of Nexen N'Priz 4S all season tyres on my wife's snotter Mk4 Golf.

They were an absolute steal, £152 delivered for full set of 4 195/65/15 through Oponeo.

I'm a big fan of winter tyres and have been running them for years. I've got my set of Falken HS439 for my E39 BMW but think these Nexens looked too good to pass up for the front wheel drive Golf.

Looking forward to giving them a good test once the white stuff comes down up here in the Yorkshire Dales. This will be my first experience of 'all season' tyres - frankly they look pretty winter in terms of tread pattern but guess they must not be quite as high silicon as a full winter. Should work fine with 800kg of VW diesel lump pushing down on the fronts smile

Cheeky question... anyone got any 185/195 55/50 15" winter tyres they no longer need?
Are 195/65R15 Nokian any good to you?

Same with me. Current tyres worn out and have longer commute now. No brainer really. smile

Been running these on my Jeep GC for a year now. More than happy with them.

Just picked my car up. They are the Winguard Sport version. First impressions are that they are a little bit noisier than the Bridgestones i've taken off, but they are gripping ok and it's dry and about 15 degrees here. smile

I guess I'll see the real difference in the cold and wet.

Have they affected MPG at all...I have an 80 mile round trip to work and so can be a little sensitive about it.

Not so you would notice on the Jeep, but it only does local miles, and averages 18mpg!

I had Michelin Alpine A4's on our 04 c-class CDI, and that saw the mpg drop from 45mpg to ~42mpg. I changed back to summer tyres in early March, to save on MPG. The winter tyres were definitely more squirmy than the summer tyres, which also influenced my decision to swap. I'll be putting the winters back on in a few weeks time.

Just gave it a try, got a reply within 10 minutes saying they decline to match the competitor price and giving me a 'best offer' of £10 a tyre more than the competitor (Not sure what the point in that is? Why would I buy from them when they know I can pay £40 less?).

Well, I picked my first drive home on the winters well. About 15 degrees and really dry roads. Funny how spongy the winters feel in these conditions. Quite a difference when compared to normal tyres. smile

Are you running them at higher pressures than your summers? They need to be a few psi higher to avoid the spongy feel.

Most manufacturers quote 200 miles bedding in - personally I think 500 is closer to the truth. They'll get better.

Tyres that I have taken off today were completely gone at the front. I had to put something on today so didn't have a choice.

Some of my commute involvea twisty, rural roads that are already getting quite wet and muddy. Temps in the morning on the way to work have also been below ten degrees. At least I have them on ready. smile

I'll take a look. They are 32 all round I think.

I'll see how they go. I'll cover that distance in a few weeks. Should be getting cooler by then.

Thanks. smile

My friend is needing winter tyres in 245/35 R18. These are proving exceptionally rare and expensive with Pirelli seemingly being the only make I can find so far. Any help?

Is that the manufacturer's recommended winter setup, or is he replacing his summer tyres like for like?
Might be worth checking the handbook to see if they recommend a different winter size. If so it might ultimately be cheaper and easier to get another set of wheels.

Not strictly a winter tyre, but has anyone got experience of these all seasons :

Came second in last year's Autobild test. Need a new set of tyres for a W210 E class and these could fit the bill.

Yeah I'm telling him to get a set of 16's off ebay and stop being a vain bd.

I've found these but can't see much else-
