I think some people just have a braided hose fetish. And as mentioned, easier just to route a single flexible from start to finish than it is start bending and shaping metal pipes. Plus potentially fewer joints.

We used components and stainless braided hose from Rally Design on our rally car. Easy to make and we've never had any issues.

Well I can see a measurable change in volume consumption if I used a long piece of braided hose instead of a solid line with a short braided section when performing a caliper stiffness test. You wouldn't catch me using yards of the stuff to plumb my brakes in, I'd expect a spongy pedal.

Rubbern braided or s/s ptfe ?
