Cleaning Brake Pistons
Discussion
I am refurbing some brembo brakes and there is some residue crud on a couple of pistons as per:
I know these have a coating on so I am geussing fine emery cloth is out of the question. Are they servicable ie how can I clean it off, will a non metalic fibre pad be ok or are they scrap? Can i use 0000 wire wool and get them recoated? The white line is a reflection not a scratch!
Thanks

Is the crud sitting on top of the coating or has the coating been compromised and that is corrosion from the piston surface?
I've used the scourer side of an ordinary washing up sponge to good effect on similar pistons but if the piston itself is corroded I think it's scrap and you'll need to buy a new one.
