Our MINI has a seized rear brake. I've disconnected the handbrake cable and it's still seized, so looks like the caliper will have to be swapped out.

However, how to I get the old caliper off when the brake is seized on? The best i've come up with so far is to wedge a screwdriver between the disc and caliper and hit it with a hammer. There must be better ways of doing this?

Got it, just needed a bigger hammer!

Now to see if I can rescue this caliper.

Does the MINI have a wind back adjuster? Usually a gentle tap with a mallet in the opposing direction to the seized piston or slider should do it.

Yes it's a wind back piston but I can't shift it. There's a salvage place on ebay selling a caliper for £25 with free delivery, so i'm just going to replace it.
