Bought high performance brake pads bed them in and after a little driving the pedal goes strait to the floor when brakes cooled they worked again so going for an uprated brake fluid do I want .4 or .5 and any particular brand ? Car is a 96 impreza if that makes any difference

Dot 4 or Dot 5.1 but NOT Dot 5. (Dot 4 should be good enough).

You seem to suspect that the fluid is boiling and that's why you are losing the brakes. If that is so the problem is more likely to be a brake sticking which is causing it to over-heat.

After a little driving it goes straight to the floor ?

Like down to the shops or back, or 20 laps of your local circuit ?

I've found ATE super blue is quite good. You shouldn't be boiling your fluid through road use though. Could be something causing the fluid to boil like a sticky caliper.

If your brake pedal goes to the floor after a short run I think its more than just brake fluid??
For the fluid to boil the discs would be "glowing" and the brakes smoking.
