I have a 2007 Honda Civic 1.8 petrol that has started to make a clunking noise from the front passenger side when I go over speed bumps and potholes. On the larger speed bumps the noise only happens as the suspension releases but is quiet as it compresses.

I haven't had a chance to get the car up and have a proper look underneath as yet.

Does anyone have any suggestions where I should be looking first or if there are any likely suspects on this model of car.

Thanks

SYB

I would check the anti roll bar vertical link as first thought, quite prone to wear and knocking on most modern cars.

Also check for a crack in the spring had one on my first mondeo would sound fine on compression when the crack opened up but would bang badly once it tried to go back together

Bit of an update, I stuck my head under the car over the weekend but couldn't see anything untoward so I have booked it in with a local garage on Thursday. I hope it's nothing too costly.

Just to close the thread really, the car came back from the garage and has had a replacement drop link fitted. Everythng else seemed ok with the car too.
