Pedal box novice questions
Discussion
Couple of questions about pedal boxes, the type that Demon Tweeks well, where three pedals are assembled in a self contained rig.
Firstly, these boxes don't appear to work with any sort of extra "assistance", ie vacuum assistance in the case of production cars. So do competitions cars have any sort of braking assistance?
Can they be easily fitted to a production car without having to reconfigure or weld anything? Ie can they just be bolted in? It looks like the master cylinders potrude out the back and will need to have the bulkhead cut?

If it is a bias pedal box then it runs 2 brake master cylinders and an adjustable bias bar, these are used for racing and by kit cars, they come in a variety of configurations, floor mounted, bulkhead or hanging and master cylinders can face either way.
Fitting to a road tin top can be done but one would question why?
If it's only for cosmetic reasons and from your original question it's clear you don't understand what they are realy for then your better off with bolt on pedal pads, if I have read this all wrong and you want adjustable brake balance then for the road they are ment to be set up properly and the adjustment permenantly pinned so you don't then have the full use of the expensive adjustable pedal box

If you are talking about the universal pedal boxes used on kit cars and bespoke track cars, then no, they won't fit into a production car without significant modification to both car and probably pedal box.
If you want adjustable brake bias (e.g. for track use) then a specific bias pedal box may be available for your car if it's a model that is popular for use in competition.

Thanks. What about the power assistance? Do universal pedal boxes use power assistance and if so, from where?
Agreed that for a production car they are probably more hassle than worth. I'm just exploring options to a problem.
No, the universal pedal boxes do not use servo assistance. The kind of cars they are designed to be used in are light enough not to require it.Agreed that for a production car they are probably more hassle than worth. I'm just exploring options to a problem.
