I opened the bonnet yesterday for a quick fluid check and immediately noticed some white fluid around the top of both turrets. Just looked like a spoonful had spurted out of the top of the mount of each. I seem to recall seeing this on various cars over the years but never focussed on it. Now I can't recall how long it has been there. However on the basis that it was the first thing I noticed I assume it is new.
What is it and do I need to do anything?
Thanks in advance
Honda S2000 by the way

Had the car long ? only fluid i can think of in a strut is the shock oil (is the lower body of the shock wet?) it could be grease from the top mount bearing or somone has greased the top mount at some point to cure a squeek?

I have had the car for about a year and done 10,000 miles or so. Does not look like grease and if it was shock/fork oil it must be heavily water contaminated to lather up like that. I will have a look at the struts from underneath and report back. If it is a failure of the shock seals then it just seems odd to both go at the same time. not as if I have smashed into a speed bump at high speed and popped the struts!

I'm pretty sure Honda spray a form of lubricant in that area on services so the rubber on the top of the strut doesn't creak or perish so fast.

I think Composite Guru has it.
Having another look in the light of the above I think that it has been there for ages and I just haven't seen it. Looking at the overspray pattern it is now consistent with someone standing at the front of the car and spraying the turrets.
Thanks for your help. A better result than new dampers.
